Truck Camper support

I just unloaded my truck camper from my pickup today. Very carefully I might add. I found these Super Steel Sawhorse Brackets at Home Depot and will do a bit of carpenter work tomorrow to take some of the load off my camper jacks.

I will provide pictures soon!
  • Budster's pic that Joerg68 posted is a great picture of them setup, and yes where I got the idea from.

Not sure why my link didn't work, but most people here IIRC throw them under the camper when traveling. I took them and cut notches into the sides so they would "lock" into the 2x2 platform I built to raise my camper up over the cab of my truck. Saves weight as I'm not doubled up with wood on the platform, keeps the platform nice and light for moving it in and out of the truck and makes traveling with these things way easier.

Reposting the link in case it works for someone.

  • Those X stands are what we use too. DH whipped them up quick, easily and cheaply. They work perfectly and the nice thing is that they lower the TC enough to comfortably step in and out with needing only a single step.

The TC is low and completely rock solid. Saves too much stress on our jacks.
  • Saw horses built that way aren't very strong. First of all, the top, horizontal member needs to be vertical to have any serious strength and the legs need to be braced for strength. Just some thoughts.
  • Crap that's expensive...

Personally, I like the Plywood "x-brace" concept... see my take below (wasn't my idea)... Slot the pieces of plywood together where the slot is that I cut into them. Work's great for traveling and storage.
