Truck Debates - Why does it seem to be mostly Ford vs. Ram?

I wonder if that means that now you can be a willing part/partner of helping to decimate it now that you are no longer in the military? A dollar gone is a dollar lost and look at where this action has left us today! Ever hear of unemployment and monster deficits?

Come down off your highhorse and realize that a real American wouldn't spurn his fellow American by undercutting his ability to keep his job while knowingly sending his disposable dollars out of the country. Is that what you learned and had served in the military to do to your fellow countryman? Me me me hopefully was not the driving force in your growing up and stabbing your neighbor in the back today which hands grief down to his family and weaken the very nation you served in the military for so you could have your way/whims/and wishes today! So much for the brotherhood of unionism which only is a thought today even if it doesn't pertain to you personally? Do you not realize the unions are on their way out and the VW attempt to unionize defeat and many others lately should open your eyes. I'm sure you may see it differently though!

Your actions speak/spoke so much louder than the simple behind the scenes words you had written. I admire all our citizens who are or have served in our military and most certainly display with their post military actions of their real love for their fellow countryman. "United we stand, divided we fall" is still true whether you like it or not! We are "The United States" and I don't see the word Mexico mentioned anywhere in that phrase but maybe you do!

I made absolutely no attempt to disparage or diss our military past, present, or future! Read into what you will as my words are crystal clear!

You didn't address "MY question"....look at my post....I resent the fact that you question if one can be a real American if they own a Ram is what I took from your post. I served in the US Air Force, fought in Viet Nam, am as patriotic as they come, anyone that knows me would NEVER question that, and you question if one is a "Real American" if they own a Ram pick up truck????

Thus Ram has to go after #1....With the advance in their new frame, more HP, TQ, higher GVWR and out the roof GCWR, it's hoped they can push sells and try to get close to #2 and push performance to be able to compete with Ford...It's what manufacturing is all about.

But as another has stated...You must not spend a lot of time readng these forums. Someone could just bring up something about GM/Chevy, or just Ford, or just Ram, and before you know it...it's full blown fan boy, ugly fight as to who is the best...best way to handle it will be what you didn't want to hear...all three are good, all three are more than capable. BUT, we now have the issue of "Government Motors" that I heard when I owned a Chevy, and now Ram being manufactured by Fiat and my Americanism is being challenged by some because i own one and we have 9 pages of some venomous post....seems to have worked out well for you.

again, which one do you own? You posed the question, but I have no clue which truck you own...just curious...doesn't matter which one, because I, unlike some, certainly won't call you un-American, no matter what you own...

What I want to know is when they're going to stop making new trucks so butt-ugly. It's been years since I've seen a new model and gotten a case of truck envy.

Every single component in the computer you used to post that rant is manufactured overseas. All of the circuit boards and the LCD display panel come from southeast Asia. The processor most likely comes from South America. Actually, that's also true of the circuit boards and processors that manage the engine and transmission in your American made truck. Like it or not, we're a global economy.

TN, so are you saying that anyone that owns a Ram truck "can't be a real American"? Really, I've owned "American made vehicles" since 66'....I purchased this truck because, at the time, I liked it the best...came from a pile of Chevy's.. I work for a major manufacturer that ships calipers, ABS, ESP, brake by wire, tires and auto avoidance systems all over the world...and we're located here in the US...we sell to BMW, Volvo, Mercedes, VW, Subaru, Nissan, Toyota, GM, Ford and Chrysler, just to mention a few...so we're here in the USA producing part's and selling to foreign countries, (as well as manufacturers of same auto's here in the US)...but I have to ask;, why am I being questioned if a "real American" just because I own a Ram truck? I served 4 years in the USAF, have a combat ribbon where I fought in Viet Nam, Good Conduct medal, and a Commendation Medal just to name a few that I EARNED while I served for and fought for my country in the military, and fought in a very unpopular war...I'd give my life for my country and took that chance when I was in the military and I, because I own a RAM truck, I would have my "Americanism" questioned as being a "real American" because of a vehicle I owned? REALLY!!!!

That was a very hateful, ugly thing to say to ANYONE that served/serves in the ARMED FORCES of these UNITED STATES and have FOUGHT for our country and are as AMERICAN as ANYONE else and from what I saw during Viet Nam of deserters, draft card burners and people that spit on me and called me "baby killer", I would think you would show more shame towards them, (even if they owned an American made vehicle), then someone who owns a RAM pick up truck and has served this country honorably in the United States Military...you have GOT to be kidding. MANY a Veteran owns Ram trucks, just as well as Chevy (which I did for years and years) and Ford's and to question if the owners of a RAM are REAL AMERICANs, is inane and ludicrous...I cannot believe that this post went to the point of questioning one's patriotism and AMERICANISM due to the vehicle they own.

It's very sad when these vehicle debates have stooped so low as to call people names and try to hurt others over a stupid inanimate object as a pick up truck...no wonder the United States is divided today and the military has little to no support by civilians and are judged by the kind of vehicle they may own..."real American"???....I'm as REAL AMERICAN" as one can be and challenge anyone to prove other wise................truely a sad commentary on this or any other forum.

Cummins is headquartered in Columbus, IN. and has manufacturing facilities all over America. It has several plants in other countries, but what major manufacturer doesn't? When a sale is made, don't the profits come back to Columbus? Does Ford and GM have stock holders in other countries? It's a world wide deal folks. The days of Mr. Ford or Mr. Toyota or Mr. Ram or Mr. Exxon sitting around counting their money is over. Profits go to the stock holders. Many of the Cummins engines are made in America and so are the turbos. Still lots of worker bees in America. Sure would like to see more!

To answer the question about why does all the bickering go on between Ford and Ram, I think it has to do with they are the only two that have been innovative in the last few years. Dodge completely rebuilt there truck from the ground up and now has the Ecodiesel and Ford has the Ecoboost. Chevy has not changed anything motor wise much since the early 2000's. I think that is all about to change for Chevrolet soon but right now with the Chevy you are buying a 2015 year model 10 year old truck. That is only my opinion.
