Truck Grill Guard

I have a Luverne on my Duramax. I am 1-0-1. Didn't even notice the first one. The second one was dead (for him) center in the grill at 55+. The top of the guard flexed back into the hood. I'm calling that a tie.

I did a bunch of research trying to decide between a Buckstop steel bumber (350 lbs with winch) or Aluminess aluminum (260 lbs with winch). I ended up going with the steel the weight savings could not justify the added cost, lack of durability and If repairs are needed more people I know are better at welding steel than aluminum. I also think the weight up front may help to balance some of the weight from the rear.

I put Ranch Hand grill guards on every pickup I buy. I also put their Hauler headache racks on them as well. The finish will last about 5 years here and then I have to have them coated in Rino lining or the equivalent.

Thanks all, I think we will go with the Frontier. It gives some protection at 140#.

We install ranch hand front bumpers on all our work trucks. They probably could survive a artillery hit.

They actually help, in some way.
My father had one on his 2003 GMC Envoy, nice chrome piece from Westin I believe. Few years ago he hit a deer at full speed on a back country road. My father and my mom were OK, the front was completely damaged, about $ 8000 of body work, but it saved the headlights, radiator and the motor. After the trooper wrote the report, they were able to drive home, so in that respect it prevented more damage to the car.

Another vote for Ranchhand. I have one, after a close call with a deer. I don't consider the weight to be a factor since I have not overloaded my truck with payload plus the fifth wheel. Another handy thing about grill guards is that they make a good place to attach other things like a kayak rack. That's what I have done.

I went with a Setina Push Bumper. (It's what law enforcement uses.) It won't stop cosmetic damage but will prevent things from coming right back into the engine compartment.
