My hubby is 72 and has a few issues as a brick mason but still manages the steps ok. We have a cargo tray custom built with steps that is much easier than a long row of scissor steps but or truck is an 04 Chevy 3500 and sets much lower than the new trucks. The larger issue is climbing into the cab over bed. As long as he can manage that will keep the TC. That being said we have discussed the small travel trailer or class B+ motor home to get a permanent bed at a lower level but this rig is paid for and we're still able to get up in both the camper and bed. You do what works for you.
