Make sure you get that in writing from the service writer, so your next of kin can use it as evidence when your truck starts again in the garage in the middle of the night, you don't notice it, and it fills the house with CO.
Be very plain with the service writer that this is a very dangerous situation, and that his answer is not acceptable.
Right?
I’d believe our POTUS right now over most car dealer service schmucks….
Funny first hand story. Buddy (who is automotively illiterate and not mechanically inclined by most accounts) bought a new $35k Polaris Razr just recently. Few local around the subdivision rides, it never ran right, went into limp mode etc. He took it back to the dealer for repair.
They gave it back to him and said they fixed it. Apparently when he dropped it off they asked him what kind of gas he put in it. He told them non ethanol premium. They told him they cleared the codes and limp mode was due to using the wrong type of fuel…. (Can’t make this shite up!)
But they did drain the tank and put some “regular” gas in it. No warranty. Charged him to “fix” it.
Fast fwd a couple weeks he’s family is at the dunes with another family friends of ours (the other friend is one of the best mechanics I’ve known and lives for power sports Toys).
Immediately the brand new Razr throws codes and limp mode. Other buddy actually pulls the code. It’s for a misfire.
Pulls the spark plugs and one of them was smashed with basically zero gap. And obviously been in there for a while. Coated with fuel and fouled on one side and goobered up from basically not firing.
1 new spark plug and it was good as new. Ran great the rest of the weekend.
Hadn’t run right prior from the time he brought it home new and tried to take a rip around the block on it.
Love dealer service departments….
