I have a 2012 F350 with Michelin tires on it. Tire size is LT27560R20. everything was fine until 34,000 miles and then the tread separated on three of the tires within three thousand miles of each other. I have always kept the tires rotated, balanced with the correct air pressure, never before have I had Michelin tires fail like this.After talking with several people I have heard the same story, tires failing with tread separation at about 25- 35,000 miles. Anyone else with this experience with Michelin truck tires? Michelin gave me 75% back on the cost of the tires, but the expense of the service people coming out to change the tires was on me. I found out the jack that came with the F350 was a joke. Let me add that the right front tire blew out on Interstate 64 running 70 MPH. The others blew out just sitting there after I felt something wrong and pulled over to inspect the tires.

I have their Goodrich tires (owned by Michelin) and they've been fine so far but they are the all Terrain T/A tires and I don't have 35K on them yet. Michelins usually get good reviews but I know that they have had some recalls recently, my Goodrich tires were just all replaced at about 18K.This one for exampleI'd google michellin recalls with your tire type to check.I do suggest that you go out and buy yourself a 12 ton or more bottle jack, you need it for your fifth wheel anyway. Carry a piece of wood to put under the jack so it doesn't get pushed into the dirt when you use it. A 18 inch length of 2X8 or wider or an equivalent piece of 3/4 inch plywood works well. The jack they include with all vehicles are **** since they stopped making bumper jacks.

In 1998 I bought a new Dodge Ram 2500 and it came with Michelin E Rated tires. The first trip I took was empty and 2,000 miles to & from Florida. Tire pressure was ok as I am in a habit of checking tire inflation at every stop. We were on our way back and just crossed the Kentucky / Tennessee line, driving about 75 MPH at around midnight when my right rear tire blew! The tread had separated, and took out the exhaust, break-lines and the right side of the of the bed! After we got it to a dealership and looked at the remaining tires... they were all cracked where the tread meets the sidewall.I contacted Michelin and they would not do one thing for me... and repairs in 1998 were over $6,800.00. I fought and fought with them and never got one red cent from them... I would not buy a Michelin tire ever again.RVman / John

What tires, LTX A/T2? That's what I have and I've got 16k on em. So far so good but we are taking a long trip soon.Thanks

LOL; I've had the same experience as Ben and Marty with Michelin's.

About 10 blew up in my driveway. Not enough UV protection. Where I live you need a LOT of UV protection. I heard Michelin makes a good TV tire now. Too bad, I won't allow them on my ranch after tire after tire after tire blowing up. Too many other options that gets my $$$$.

That was about 4 sets mixed between LTX MS & AT with one set from my road bike

Spans about 7 years and many, many sets of Michelin's before those. Was
happy till they changed their formulation to have them start to crack

Guess some only consider it an issue if it is a 'new' issue...but that
is them, not me...maybe a Proverbs:26,4 person...

08? I wouldn't follow that guy down the highway Larry. Most of the MH guys change em out at the 5-6 year mark, cracks or no cracks.

This guy paid $4000.00 to stay in the resort so he could play pickleball and has a house in the area so he is not poor just not a thinker.

Those pictures are old, according to the dates on them, and not all the same tires. And we have no idea how old the tires are and what their history is. So not sure what the point is.

The O.P. definitely had an issue. Personally I think it was a bad manufacturing run of tires. It shouldn't have happened, but probably did to others who purchased the same run of tire. I would like to think that Michelin identified the issue and fixed it, but who knows. If there was a recall, would you get a full replacement, or just a pro-rated replacement like he did?

I looked at the Michelin tires for the date and the tires that were not inside out showed 08 for the date. Now the tires had cracked like a dried out river bed. 2001 year of MH. Just not sure of our Michelins at this time but 20800 miles they are like new. Tires are everything to me for safety not the price.

Yes, I'm jaded.... I'm in a high liability business and on a daily basis am subjected to people whining and blaming others. The OP's post just struck a nerve I suppose. He runs the tires for 34K miles and then gets 75% of the cost back. Were they rated @ 136,000 miles? And he feels so taken advantage of that the case is taken to an internet message board to actually complain about it? It seems to me the manufacturer stood behind them more than expected.

Let me say this and close. My post was not so much of a concern about money but the fact that I had three tires to fail with tread separation with low mileage on the tires. My post was to hear from others who may have had the same experience with the same brand tire. I don't want to go through the same thing again if I can help it and just maybe someone might have an opinion about a safer tire for towing. The tires on the truck should have lasted another thirty thousand miles with out any problem from tread separation.
