- FrostbitteExplorerI guess it doesn't matter as around my parts, there's lots of Ford 150's with the Ecoboost engine. So they're buying them regardless of mileage at the moment.
- FlashmanExplorer IISo the Eco diesel gets 25% better mileage towing 6000 lbs than the Ford gets just driving around?
What happened to all the hype on great mileage from the Eco boost? - Ole_Man_DanExplorerThis topic started with TRUCK TRENDS evaluation of ECOBOOST...
Comparisons to your favorite big V8s, Chevys, Dodges, and Fords
of yesteryear are veering a little off topic.
There's no reason to get defensive over your favorite truck.
Drive what you like. Why slam other folks choice?
I doubt most of us bought our trucks just because of MPG.
I know I didn't. I bought mine for performance, to drive,
to tow ect.
If I get good mileage that's great. If I don't...
I can change the way I drive, or, except the mileage I get,
OR... trade trucks.
I don't believe everything I see or hear, been around long enough
to not fall for a puff literary piece or a salesman's pitch.
(The Brooklyn Bridge still isn't for sale, despite what you have heard.) :R - Perrysburg_DodgExplorer

What is the F-150HD, if not a rebadged light duty F-250? What difference does a name make anyway? Buy the GVWR you need and don't look back.
Yes but you can buy a F150HD now,try to get a Ram HD
Are you saying you can't find a Ram 2500? How many do you want? Even if you ordered one they are only running 8-12 weeks out, depending on where you live.

Not sure what what part of Arz. you're in but Bill Luke in Phoenix has 31 2500 HD Rams on his lot, 26 crew cabs and 5 mega cabs. Thats just one dealer Link nice story though. :R - Gr8lifeExplorer II

It's called a 2500. Does the name really matter? What if it was called a F-200, would that make it better or worse? I really doubt that would change its capabilities. Of course, there are those that are more easily fooled by advertising than others. - RWDIIIExplorer

Yes but you can buy a F150HD now,try to get a Ram HD - mosseaterExplorer IIAfter reading all the comments to this point, I feel like I'm obligated to comment (not sure why, other than I paid the price of admission)
Arguing over MPGs is like the discussion I had regarding impending skylight installations in my house. The negative commentors told tales of high fuel bills, and "expensive holes in the roof". True. And so be it. I didn't build a house to have bench racing comparisons of fuel bills. I built it to make me happy. A place I wanted to live in. I like natural light and ventilation, and I'm perfectly happy to trade some cost for the pleasure I glean from that "waste".
I see trucks (vehicles!) much the same. They all get comparibly decent mileage, are reasonably pleasing to look at, are comfortable and powerful at a price most of us can afford. My subjective opinions are not your subjective opinions. I don't get all the nitpicking bordering on personal attacks.
Personally, I love my truck. Is it perfect? Hardly. But, it's close enough for me, and it beats the last one hands down ('94 F-250, 5.8). If there is one thing I could put some extra money behind, it's more power and some extra mpgs, and the Ecoboost seems to fill that bill nicely at a not-too-large premium. I don't own one, but I might some day. The power curve figures alone in conjunction with the stated fuel economy are enough to get my attention, since I already love the 150. I tow 8K at 15,500 combined with my 5.4, and get around 8-9 mpg at sea level w/rolling hills. Mountains at altitude bring me down to 7 or less. Daily combined runs about 14. Living with 11 towing and 19 not, with that kind of torque? Yeah, I'll go for that. I think they should do the same treatment to a small V-8 for the bigger trucks. Diesels certainly have their place, but someone can have mine. My .02 - jody_hExplorer

And what is yours? How many lug nuts to you have? I bet it isn't 5 or 6. And besides on my Registration it says 1500 so it must be.;) - Gr8lifeExplorer IIWhat is the F-150HD, if not a rebadged light duty F-250? What difference does a name make anyway? Buy the GVWR you need and don't look back.
