TT Prices

Hi everybody, we are looking at a few Travel Trailers and are trying to do our research on pricing, is there any web sites that show retail and dealer cost, like Edmunds.com does with trucks and cars?

Any help would be appreciated!
  • Great response and thanks to everyone who answered.
Tonight while searching Google, I found this site, See Dealer Cost and they had the models I was looking at. It's has a ton of RV stuff, Motorcycles and Boats.
Between that site and your suggestions, I think I can have a clear picture of pricing. I just want to find a fair deal!
  • No general site but.......

General rule of thumb is pay approx. 2/3 of the MSRP..... I looked on ebay & just general searched the web for the same models to see what prices were running some list there prices some don't..... County Roads RV in NC has a nice web site decent prices (they usually have a lot of RVs listed) (I did beat their price though) (Mostly Forest River Products) Can give a good idea of price............... Just a couple of suggestions.
  • I have found looking at RVTRADER.com and looking at models across the country, will give you a good base of MSRP and then dealers some show the close to "actual" selling price vs. MSRP, gives you a target of what a selling price "should be" or "can be achieved" .

Unfortunatley, RV prices is game, and delaers will feel out how much the customer has done their homework, and bargining is part of the transaction.

Also, once you get a quoted price, get ready for the Admin Fees and Transportation fees, many/most dealers will addd on. Some customers claim not to pay those fees.

  • There is no website that shows average retail or dealer cost. Best you can do, find the floor plan that fits your needs. It might be available from several manufacturers. Then research dealer prices, on those particular makes / models, from places like RV Wholesale.com, RVtrader.com, etc.

You find, the same make / model, with same options installed, will be advertised with different MSRP's. That is because, the individual dealers set their own MSRP. They base it on dealer cost, dealer nstalled options, delivery charges, and dealer mark up. One dealer might say MSRP is 40K and he'll sell the unit at 35% off MSRP. That unit will cost 26K. You might see the same unit with MSRP 35K and the dealer will sell it at 27% off MSRP. That unit is also in 26K range.

The average is 25 - 30 percent off MSRP, but, some dealers push the envelope on determining what the MSRP is.
  • You can get a quote from RVDirect and use that to base your price negotiations on. In my case, the dealer got pretty darn close, factoring in what I estimated for gas/lodging to go shag it.
