I'm looking to buy a new TT with MSRP of $35K. The show price is listed as $31K. I know most dealers have a cushion built into their price to allow for negotiations. I read somewhere that some will go up to 30% off with negotiations. I am guessing this is an exception, not the rule. Any tips, thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated about how I should negotiate would be greatly appreciated as I have never bought a TT before and have no idea where to begin. Thanks!

The markup on trailers is much greater than auto's. I would start with 40% off and work from there.

First decide what the maximum you will pay. You must back away if you do not get that price. 30% off MSRP is not unusual.

My limited experience, the lower priced models don't seem have as much of a markup as the higher ones. I think you may have a harder time getting the 40 percent off that Scott suggests, but he does say start there.If you can get 30 percent off 35K, I think you'll be doing real well. I suspect they will end up somewhere north of that. You can also try to negotiate other things as adders.. things you may buy anyways. Mike

You could be right about the lower priced units. I tend to equate these sort of subjects with the prices my friends and I have paid for our TT's, which they've gotten in the mid to upper 20K ranges when the MSRP was in the mid to upper 30's.

I've only purchased 2 towables...In 2003, 40% was the most I was able to negotiate and that was a new, end of year, high end, heavy TT. Research has told me 35% is fairly common and at least 30% if it's in the first 6 months of the current model year. As with anything else, brands/demands make the price fluctuate too.

Please do keep us informed on how you do. I wonder how much depends on where in the country you are. The other thing is there doesn't seem to be a standard on MSRP.

I worked hard to get 28 percent off what my dealer called MSRP. Walked away twice, and terminated phone calls two or three times. It might take that to get where you need to be, but be patient.

negotiate new tires for whatever you buy. Try to add that in at the end. The tires on new units are trash.
