More advice please. I went in today to negotiate a price. I gave them the max I felt comfortable paying. They basically said they have no room to negotiate and offered me 5% off or $1400 in "add ons" when the extras I wanted came to $2100. They said they couldn't do better so I walked away for the time being. What I'm wondering is if dealers ever don't have room to negotiate or are they just trying to get the most they can out of me thinking I wouldn't play hard ball. I found another trailer at a different dealer so I called on it and they also told me that they wouldn't negotiate on price. Thanks!
OK. I've never bought a big ticket item at a show but my basic strategy when negotiating whatever is to give a price that works for me and if rejected give my card so I can be contacted if they have a change of heart down the road. A smart and hungry salesperson will keep the info.
This method only works to your advantage if you don't have an immediate need.
