TT Tires

I just bought a 1968 31 foot Holiday Rambler. The tires on the trailer are 7.00X 15 LT Load Range C 6 Ply Rating. I cannot seem to translate this into traditional sizes and everyone I call seems confused. Does any one know anything about these?

Thanks.

    Question:
will the st225 75 r15 replace 700 15 on a 1961 airstrean or what would be a better choise thanks

For an exact replacement tire for your 700-15 tire, we have the Kenda Tire, part # AM10414, which is 7.00-15 tire. Since the LT on this tire is after the tire size, it indicates that the tire can be used as a light truck or trailer tire. The overall diameter of part # AM10414 is 29.3 inches and is a load range E tire which is rated at 2,376 lbs at tire maximum PSI.

The item you selected, Kenda Tire, part # AM3S870, with a tire size of ST225/75D15, will be a little shorter of a tire, as the overall diameter is 28.1 inches. Part # AM3S870 has a wider width of 8.4 inches and is designed to be used on a 6 inch wide wheel. Part # AM3S870 is a load range D tire rated at 2,540 lbs at tire maximum PSI.

Trailer tires should be inflated to their maximum indicated PSI Rating as stated on the tire, for best performance and longer life of the tire.
  • Just find an old local tire shop. Just for fun i went to a Franchise place (Colony) and asked about my old trailer tires. They had no idea what i was talking about.

Then i went our legendary local store, he not only knew what i was talking about, he knew the right size off the top of his head. I beleive I ended up with ST 225/75 15 - this aint rocket science.

I has not been that long since the sized tires this way as I have a pretty good 7.5 X 15 on my newst acquisition, a 74 Boles Aero.

You will have no trouble finding the right tires. PM me if you get really stuck.
  • A 7.00x15 tire has a nominal casing width of 7 inches. Most modern tires measure the width in millimeters. So 7.00 inches = 171.5 mm - but the 7.00 is a "nominal" measurement and isn't really measuring the same thing as the 7.00. Figuring all that, keeping in mind each tire model will have slightly different dimensions, a 7.00x15 is approx. equal to a 185/100R15 or a 195/92R15. Good luck finding that!!
A tire that is available that is about the same size is a 255/75R15. It is about one inch smaller in diameter, and one inch wider.
Another possibility is a radial 7.00. Yokohama has one.

I have never used that model, but I have run a lot of Yokohama tires over the years and have had good service out of them.
  • pour 34 foot Forest River 2013 Ultra lite (LOL) came in at 7450 lbs and load range C tires. Immediately changed over to Load range E. Been to Edmonton,BC and back and still look new. Got flooded out of Canada in July. Bought Maxxis tires as usual.
  • You can still buy tires in that size.
PowerKing and others still offer them as a bias-ply trailer tire...I'd definitely upgrade to a radial, though.
  • A 31 footer on Load Range C tires...
I know I don't have any real specs...but just doesn't sound right to me... just a ball park feeling.
  • The LT stands for light truck , thats probably why they have lasted this long. Stick with the LT tire when you get new
  • Holy moly- is it possible that those are the original tires??? Hard to believe that they even still hold air...wonders will never cease!

    Here's what E-trailer suggests per replacement in sizes-of-this-century: 225/75-15 . Be sure to read the link...the tire's a little taller, I think.
