Used 2011 F350 6.7. Do I need to purchase warranty?

Looking at used 2011 F350 power stroke crew cab to pull my travel trailer. Vehicle has 95k miles. What is the opinion of the forum as to the benefit of an extended warranty for this truck?
Okay. It is not a factory extended warranty. It is an aftermarket insurance policy that covers the turbo and the HPFP, but not the radiator. While I have enough money to buy an '11, I do not have enough to buy a '15-20 without going into debt, which I am trying to avoid.

Good plan But a HPFP failure can run 15,000.00

Better up the savings some.

It's more like $8,000.

OP,
I have a '12 truck and choose not to get an extended warranty and it was the right choice.

I would not want to own one without coverage. That said... most aftermarket "warranties" are not a true warranty, and contain enough exclusions to make them worthless.

I'd suggest sticking only with Ford Extended Care (if it's even eligible) or Mechanical Breakdown Insurance through your insurance carriers. And to that point, stick with your carrier (or change to carrier providing the MBI) that way there's less chance of finger pointing in case of a HPFP failure.

Those are ESPs (extended service plans), not warranties. Repairs will have deductibles. And if you do buy one, buy one from Ford. Although Easy Care is also good. Be very careful of 3rd party plans. BUT. They are expensive, and may not be available for more than 125,000 or so miles. And I think there is a model year limit on them. Shop internet prices. All Ford dealers sell the same Ford plans, but some discount them much more than others.

The early 6.7 had some fuel pump issues. Otherwise, they have proven highly reliable. Check the history of that truck before you buy to see what has already been done.

If your budget allows, look at a '15 and up.

I also say Yes, while being a very good engine, as with all new things electronics and emmisions have brought more issues.

I am just curious... about how much is a warranty for a 9 year old vehicle with 100,000 miles on it? And for how long will the warranty last?

Like any vehicle, it could be a very good vehicle or not.
But if I was getting a powerstroke Iโ€™d want โ€˜15 or newer, or in the same price range consider another brand.

I have a different opinion.
First, youโ€™re not going to find any FoMoCo factory backed warranty on a 9 year old rig.
If you donโ€™t think you can trust it, and canโ€™t fix it yourself (for the most part) then Iโ€™d seriously consider investing the extra money youโ€™ll spend on the warranty on a newer/different truck. IE, one that you donโ€™t have to worry about the injection pump taking out the whole fuel system, and the turbo and radiator.
Now if youโ€™re getting a screamin deal on a very nice condition truck, consider that savings as funds for potential future repairs, put a CP4 bypass kit on it to prevent possible injection pump failure causing a $1000 issue to be a $10k issue. And save the rest for a rainy day.
