Value of my travel trailer???

I'm thinking of selling my travel trailer. What's the best way to determine the value and asking price? Basically, trying to figure out how much I would expect to get for it if I sold it outright to an individual or if I did a trade in with a dealer. Should I use NADA guides? I bought it new in 2008. Thanks.
  • Check craigslist and ebay for similar vehicles. And depending on how fast you want it gone price it accordingly. Remember, this is the worst time of year to sell an unwanted RV, so be prepared to sit on it, or give it away for less than you think. Afterall it is only worth what someone else is willing to pay!
  • Yep, ditto what don said. Bad time of year but not impossible. Just be realistic and don't be in a hurry. There is so much of a regional component that it's hard to find one place to establish a value. Craigslist and Ebay are probably the best places to get an idea. If you can wait a few months you'll likely have much better luck.... or at least more activity. I actually have my TT on Craigslist and get about 1 inquiry per week. If I find a buyer over the winter great.... but I'm figuring it will be the spring before it sells.
  • remember that the prices asked on ebay etc. are usually wild dreams of somebody who is upside down on their rv. find out prices sold for at rv trader, etc.

  • I'd say with the water damage described in the previous post it's worth very little. You're stuck selling it to someone looking for a project and they're going to want a great deal to assume that risk/work. I'd see what the dealer offers as a trade (which will also be little) and price accordingly. The dealer may be willing to give you more than it's worth if you're buying a neww RV.
  • I'm in the process of repairing the camper now. There's no way I'd sell it or continue using it without fully repairing it. Anyhow I was looking for something similar for campers like Kelly Blue Book for cars. KBB lets you specify condition (good, excellent, poor, etc.) to get a more realistic idea of the value. I don't see where you can do that with NADA guides.
  • I would do a google search for the same year and model and see what others are selling for. Like others have said if you can wait until spring you will have better luck getting what you want for it. People buying this time of year are looking for bargain basement price.
