VIN plate replacement?

Hi everyone,
I'm thinking of buying a 95 Fleetwood Caribou TC from a guy I know. He recently did a major makeover on the exterior, including replacing all the siding and roof. He has the title (out of state title), but there's no VIN plate. He doesn't remember where it was located on the TC, and all the old siding was thrown away. If I buy it from him, I want to resolve this issue first. Does anyone have any photos of VIN plate and location where it should be? Any suggestions on how to deal with DMV?
Thanks
  • Previous 5th wheel had the VIN located on the drivers side near the front. Outfitter doesn't even have a VIN#
  • Although not required in California, my 1988 Bigfoot TC has a V.I.N. tag on the driverside rear corner of the TC, just above the jack. I don't know if it makes a difference, but the TC was manufactured in Canada.

  • The VIN number is on the title, I'm mostly interested in proof of ownership (matching the camper to the title)
  • Elkhorn printed on a vinyl sticker- usualy on left side between door & left tailight on exterior sideing. You 'might' look on inside of cabinet doors. Im unaware on a truck camper any other addtional 'vin' tags, never heard on a truck camper, the frame stamped? Not a vehicle. The number would have been on original paper work. Is the vin or a serial number on the title seller has? Have a aluminum plate stamped at local trophy shop -rivot it to the propane box IF you need it. Otherwise long gone...
To my knowledge Florida does not require a truck camper to be registered or even require title.
  • The VIN plate won't be the only place that it marked. Usually the frame and at least 1 or 2 other places.

In North Carolina you don't register truck campers - it has no wheels.
  • first make sure your state even registers Truck Campers before you worry to much. In Calif a truck camper is cargo and has no registration.
