Weight capacity for 2019 Ram 1500

I am looking for a truck camper to put on my 2019 Ram 1500 quad cab 5.7 hemi PU truck. I am getting conflicting payload capacities from 1,793 to 1,950 lbs. The truck camper weighs 1,280 lbs. Will this work? Anyone else use this truck with a similar weight of camper? Looking for help.

^ Pretty much only airlift makes bags for a new style Ram 1500 it seems.

You can get the littel ones that fit inside the coils that claim about 2000lb total capacity, or standard double bellows ones that sit outside the springs and are much more robust and about 3x as much $.

I would also consider using Timbrens instead of airbags.
Not as convenient and not adjustable and ride is more harsh when they'r engaged, but....
Coil spring trucks have more body roll and "bounce" than leaf springs, when hauling high CoG loads like a TC.
Airbags do little to control that as they're quite compliant to shock loads themselves.
The rubber Timbrens get stiff real quick with load applied. I used them on work trucks where ultimate load and stability were more of a priority than a plush suspension.

Can you tell me what brand and/or model airbags did you install on your Ram 2500?

Like others have said, if you do go with a camper, get the airbags outside of the coils. I have a ram 2500 with coils and it was rocky as hell before I put the air bags on. I would never buy a coil spring truck again. Works good with my travel trailer with no bags.

I haven't disappeared. I've been busy. No therapy required. Lots of information I am still wading through. I bought my truck to tow a travel trailer, which it does very well, thank you. My wife and I are tossing around the idea of doing a cross country trip next year and we didn't want to tow the trailer. So I thought about getting a light weight TC to use. I found one I may be interested in but was concerned with the weight. That's all! Payload sticker on door says 1793.

The brochure shows max 2850 camper weight with reg cab, what drops to 1800lb when you choose crew cab.

Most folks know this but for those that don't.......The 3270 lb payload on the F150 is another folly of using a gvwr based payload then think it all can be placed in the bed over the trucks rear axle.
Many F150 owners report a 2200-2400 lb rear axle weight (4800 rawr) for their trucks. Now add 3270 lbs in the bed as a truck camper = 5400-5600 lbs for a 600-800 lb overload.
If the F150 had the big overhead rack that sat on the trucks front frame rails and back of the trucks bed/frame then a 3.2k payload is possible.
This point was brought up by F50HDPP owners who bothered to weigh their trucks axles before and after and then posting their findings.

I really liked the way the Skyline sat in the truck. The truck is bone stock, no air bags no nothing.

I added air bags for the Lance.

This is my Skyline Weekender that I'm parting out before it goes into the garbage can.

I only have the total weight and not fr/rr. 😞

This camper dry weighed 3400 lbs and added weight front and rear to my truck. Its a 9' camper. I felt that it was pretty evenly distributed.




This is my current camper and dry it weighs 3260 lbs and took 100 lbs off the front axle. This camper is 11' 3".

I wasn't expecting the Lance to be soo much heavier in the rear but should have known.

I think if I put the truck in low range I could pop a wheelie!! :E :B

Question: What's the COG of your TC?

Answer: I have no idea. It depends on how I load it.

Response: That’s strange because it has this sticker that say it’s 47. (or whatever your sticker says)

I guess not that far off from me who always says, The COG from the manufactuer of the TC isn’t something that matters. Instead, concern yourself with the actual FAWR and RAWR. Except I don’t try to overload the TC COG term.

Yes cog can and does change with loading the camper, but as Kayteg correctly put it, it's 80 to 110% over the rear axle.
So in other words it don't change the CG much.
