We have talked about the service providers but just as much responsibility / blame / respect goes to the tow truck companies. We have a local company that is beyond belief. They have every type and size of tow / haul vehicle and when you call a provider like AMA to get a tow they call to verify the information and any potential issues. Had to use them twice with my daughter and was VERY impressed even up to the driver getting out whistling Walt Disney songs and bouncing along to the tune, my daughter was laughing so hard took off all the tension of a break down.
I have also been out in the boonies and have seen some towing that would make me very nervous. The good part is that you give them the information (size, weight, etc) and it is then up to the dispatch and tow company after that. If there is an issue then it is their responsibility to deal with it.
Remember that the drivers are generally very knowledgeable and know their equipment and the area and what they face in the tow.
