What happens if a state park has snow?

Here in Michigan all state campgrounds are open all year unless posted on the state website.

For those using the Columbia Gorge RV parks (includes Boardman), are reservations strongly advised in mid April, or are there generally a few open spaces? From the Willamette Valley, I plan a bird watching run up the gorge, south to Baker City, then swing back home via John Day and Bend. I'd rather not have to lock down nightly stays, unless I have to.

We camped there one fall. Wasn't crowded at all. Had a great time walking the grounds and watching bird life along the irrigation canals, also the potholes. I got out my golf clubs and practiced my irons in the big field.

Our first night in the new camper. Boardman Marina and RV park, Boardman OR. Late arrival and lucky to find this plowed spot to overnight in.

Nice that they took care of you.

We've camped there too and you're right, in summer and fall, all the spots are filled.
