what truck should I buy?

Fish we have had this conversation before. The RAM is ASSEMBLED in Mexico. Engine, trans, transfercase front/rear diffs and the vast majority is US Made.

Yes I wish it was US ASSEMBLED but the good far outweighs the little bit of bad.

Oh and do you go to the truck stops and quiz the hotshots on transmission choice with the RAM?

At least you are not denying RAM is the leader in the independent owners category.

The 3500 Chevy/GMC twins are built in the USA (Flint, Michigan) with diesel engine built in the USA (Moraine, Ohio).

I believe the Alison trans is also US built but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong!

The RAM has a true MediumDuty Cummins engine and a true MediumDuty Aisin transmission. Their towing claims are backed up by SAE J2807 standards. The others are just claims with nothing to back it up. CP3 injection pump VS questionable CP4 with the other two.

Majority of "independent" RV haulers/hotshotters choose RAM more than the others. Fish I said "independent" !

Open the hood on all three, that should clinch the deal for you.

That's dually territory, 3500/350 class, or even higher 450/4500.

Since you're going BIG on the 5th wheel, you have to go big on the truck.

Any DRW 350 should meet your needs

Although you may find some SRW's that can handle your FW, you will be at the limits of the tow vehicle - I also suggest a DRW diesel for your intended use. If you have restrictions in your neighborhood concerning truck size and you tow only a few times a year on relative flat land, I'm sure we could help you configure a gasoline SRW that can do the job as long as you understand the limitations.

Fivers can have a pin weight as much as 25%... You are looking at close to if not more than 4000 lbs if you ever get fully loaded (it happens)...Here is a chart that can give you a worse case scenario...how much you can pull with your available payload... Subtract everything from the payload of the truck that will be in the truck.. yourself, family, gear.. etc etc etc... then use available payload to see if you can pull the fiver.



You still have to pay attention to GCVWR and the Trailer Tow Rating..
