What would you do...

Check out my current TV below. Since I can not sleep very much due to a few medical problems I was killing time looking at area dealerships. I email a dealership about a newer more expensive TV. A few days later a sales rep asked if I would be interested in a recent trade-in they had received. 2007 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD 2 wd diesel just like my truck....with a few exceptions. Mine LTZ & 71 Pk. Leather, rear backup camera....etc. Theirs LT cloth and a lot less stuff. Max tow mine 9900, theirs 12,000.

I have chatted phone & text. They would add leather, step rails & spray in liner if I trade for $4300 difference. I was at 2000 range.
2007 - 44800 miles
Mine 2009 38000 miles

I am at this time toning to keep mine....but it sure would give me more options having a diesel, Allison trans. Both have 3.73 gears. Both 2 wd.

    Check the GVWR of both trucks. If you are towing a fifth wheel, your cargo rating on the 2009 truck should be a lot more then the 2007 Diesel. Even if both have the same GVWR, the gas truck is about 500 pounds less than the diesel truck.

    Someone will aks if this is a early 2007 or later 2007, I don't know the difference, but one is much better than the other.

    Even though both of the diesels "can" tow 12,000 pounds, neither can handle the 2,500 pound pin weight of a 12,000 pound fifth wheel trailer and still carry more than 140 pounds in passengers. Both can handle the 1,200 - 1,500 pound weight of a travel trailer.

    So it depends on if you ever plan on towing a fifth wheel.

    Juust a question. IF you add the options you have on your truck to the truck you are looking at. Your probably going to end up with close to the same weight limits, Like Leather seats, Which BTW, Is a miracle they would put new seats in it, but anyway, Leather adds weight, Step rails add weight, spray in bed liners add weight. As does anything else you add. It's not going to bring it all the way down to yours, But it's going to close the gap some.
    so you won't be gaining as much as it looks like just now.

    "IF" you trade, you need a 3500 diesel to equal the payload you wil have with your currect rig. Because as mentioned, the diesel will weigh some 500-600 lbs more than your gas motor. SO in reality, that is a loss of 5000 lbs of tow capacity!

    NOt sure how much bigger of a trailer you want, but if a 5w, go to a dually if you have a family! I would even skip the sw3500! My dually has 4100 lbs of payload, my old diesel CC with a9200 gvwr had 2400 lbs. BIG difference in what you can or can not do! A 10K 5w had the old truck at gvwr before adding occupants, this truck I still have 1600 lbs for occupants etc assuming 25% HW!

    How do they add leather to a 2007 ? I wouldn't trade a truck whose history I know for an OLDER truch, whose history I don't know.

    Not sure. Did not know there were 2 different. Leather would we covers. My neighbor have leather added and you can not tell the difference.

    WHat is so special about leather? Cold in the winter, fries you legs in the summer! dang near as bad as vinyl! The only thing nice about leather from the get go, is the heated seats.

    Reality is, your current 6.0 gas is everybit as capable as a dmax. Other than less HP. And the HP difference is pretty minor frankly! Compared to days of yor, when one could get a 105HP motor up to low 200hp in a truck like you have! a low to mid 300hp motor vs a mid to high 300 hp motor, nothing worry about. Yeah the diesel has more torque. BUT the 6l90e has a 4.1 first gear with a 2.05 tc, vs the dmax with a 3.1 first gear, and a 1.73tc. At the end of the day, the gas rig might actually have more torque to the rear wheels than the dmax in first gear!
