Wheel Bearing Grease

I am getting ready to repack my TT bearings. I want to use a synthetic wheel bearing grease. Any brand recommendations? Any to stay away from?
2 axle, 7000 GVW.
Thanks
  • I use this Click Here

It comes in a tub and tube as well.

It exceeds the manufacturer recommendations for my axle.

And...it is so dark that it looks good on my pants when I am not looking. :B
  • "Mobil 1" grease is a full synthetic that complies with Dexter's specs.

    It's also bright red.:)
  • You should refer to your manual or the manufacturer's website. Al-Ko for example says:

"Use a high temperature, automotive type wheel bearing grease produced by a reputable manufacturer. The soap type should be lithium complex or equivalent. Use NLGI Grade 2 product with a minimum dropping point of 440F".

    Dexter grease specs

As an example, specs from a grease manufacturer:Red 'N' Tacky

I believe the dropping point temp. is important. I've read that Lucas Red 'N' Tacky and Mystik have good reviews.
  • I just pick up a tube of the "Disk Brake Wheel Bearing Grease" from the local auto parts store. Costs about $5 or so (it's been a few years since I bought the last tube).. ;)

I don't think it really matters 'what' brand you use, as long is it's the correct spec for your rig.. Don't mix brands, so if you do change, make sure you clean out the old grease completely first and then pack with your choice of grease.

That's what's worked for me on my 2002 Prowler Lynx TT and never a issue.. I repack every other year on mine. Just makes me have one less thing to worry about when towing it.. :)

    Good luck!
