Looking at getting a second set of wheels/tires for summer use.
Vehicle is a '01 F250 CCSB diesel 4x4, stock 16" wheels.

Wondering what would be better for towing use, staying with 16" wheels or going up to 18"s.
It's getting tougher to find decent looking 16s, but I much prefer the cost of rubber on them!

I recommend figuring out what overall size you want for a tire, then look at which wheels support that size and who's cheapest. 17" tires are pretty cheap and widely accessible. 18" tires are pretty common now as well. I like to go on Tirerack and pick a tire and compare the overall sizes available on a tire across different rim sizes.

Going to 17" from 16" you take about a 220# hit on per tire load rating, this is most likely why the OP is looking to 18" wheels.

THat is a 32.83" diam tire. If there is a 285-70-17 that should be about equal. IIRC a 245-70-19.5 is about that size. As is a 255-85-16.

I'd like something as close as I can get to what I'm running now, so I only need one spare 285/75 R16
I'll keep what I have as my winter/hunting tires, and run the new ones in the summer/towing season.
