Wheel Torque

Question

I recently purchased a new torque wrench and want to properly torque my trailer wheels. I have a 30' tag along with 15" wheels. I weigh in at approximately 8000LB loaded. I don't know what torque setting I should use. None of the paperwork I have gives me the proper torque. Any help would be appreciated.

That information is typically found in the owners manual, it was on my trailer. Most 15" steel wheels have a torque value of around a 100 ft lbs. It can vary some and aluminum wheels may be different. My owners manual has an entire section on wheels and tires.

I suggest 100 ft.lbs as a good starting point.

However if you were to state the actual year, make and model of the trailer someone might be able to give you more precise information.

Edit - okay I looked at your profile after saying the above. The RV you have appears to be a 2012 PALOMINO PUMA 30' RLSS.

I've got 15" aluminum wheels on my new Forest River trailer and a sticker inside the trailer says 90 lbs.  90-100 lbs on your wheels should be fine.

Mine has a sticker on the outside fender as well as it is listed on an information sheet attached to the inside of the cupboard door in the bathroom.
