Most tuners these days have de-fueling settings that help avoid melted pistons, cooked transmissions and the like.
My truck can produce roughly 50% more HP and torque than stock but that doesn't mean I drive it with my foot to the floor or set the cruise in the mountains and expect it to take it all in stride.
Modifications don't necessarily reduce reliability nor does a lack of modifications increase reliability. Mostly, it's the nut behind the wheel that has an impact on "reliability."
