Who checks their oil?

I check and recheck at least weekly when not on the road. Daily when RVing.

I check the dipstick just to make sure it is where it is supposed to be.

I always check the level on the dipschtick to make sure it's correct. :)
I think not checking it after an oil change is taking a chance. The dipstick is the only way to check the oil level, why not check?

Does it change from time to time?

My routine is add the oil, let the engine run for a few minutes while checking for leaks, take the truck for a short ride, let it sit for 10 minutes and check the oil level again. I only had a problem once, the oil filter gasket was leaking and I had to replace it. I check my oil every day before we start the truck and head out.

I dump in the specified amount of oil, run the engine for about 2 minutes to fill any voids while looking for leaks, check the level with the dipstick and add any extra amount required. I check oil level at each fill up unless the truck is sitting on a slope.

Many years ago I forgot to put the drain plug back in a vehicle. Thankfully I checked the oil before starting.
That taught me to always check.

I get my oil changed at Jiffy Lube and check it before I leave the store. My truck has an capacity oil pan so I want to make sure they don't just put in the recommended amount.

I have done both. I do enjoy the satisfaction of seeing the clean oil on the 'schtick'.

I have also blindly added a quart at 3500 miles as that is when it burns a quart. (same burn interval since new)

better question these days is who changes their own oil?

I fill recommended amount, run a minute or two, then check the dipstick. However, on the van the dipstick is really hard to read, so I usually ignore it and assume I put the right amount in lol.

With 4 cars, one motorhome and 5 motorcycles in the family right now, seems like I'm constantly changing oil in something...
