going on my first big outing in two weeks. Adirondacks in NY.. old forge... they do have black beer. Current camper has indoor three burner stove. Just getting epinions on who cooks inside, or who cooks outside? I have a two burner coleman stove that I think im gonna take with me. im not sure I really want to do a lot of cooking inside camper besides boiling water.. I imagine cooking bacon or frying steak inside will linger smell wise even though there is a powered vent right there.. how do you guys do it? do you utilize your inside stove, or cook mostly outside? im just looking for epinions, that's all..thanks

We've been camping for more than 30 years with 5 rigs, 3 pop-ups and 2 TT. I can count on one hand how many times I've cooked inside the trailer. Simply don't want to smell it up. Mostly boiled water for coffee/tea/hot chocolate. I had a Rockwood pop-up for 21 years and only lit the stove once when it was brand new to make sure it worked.I've always used a 2 burner Coleman stove outside for cooking connected to the bulk tank. I was a Scout, and have been involved with my son in Scouts for many years. We always cooked outside in all kinds of weather. Nothing beats the smell of bacon cooking in the morning on a Coleman stove.

Although I cook outside frequently using both our Weber Q and Coleman stove, we also utilize our onboard galley's stove and convection microwave. We have a couple of high powered vents and have cooked virtually every type of meal and have no lingering odors. Our camper is parked in our backyard and always vented eliminating whatever residual odors that may still linger after extended camping trips.

I cook all the time in and out of the camper. Breakfast is usually done inside. (Not ready for the outside world yet). I do run the exhaust fan for odor and humidity control inside. Lunch on the attached outdoor stove for speed and convenience. Dinner on the campfire or charcoal grill. Never had any issues with Black Bears but would be concerned in Grizzly Bear country just cause.

Aside from the weather, indoor or outdoor cooking makes little difference to me as a full timer. It all depends on the menu and whether or not I'm going to use the grill. Bear country or not, after each use before retiring, the gas grill gets cleaned and is stowed away.

Who here cooks inside camper or Outside camper?

I use the inside kitchen alot .Soup, pancakes, eggs , canned veggies, spaghetti sauce, boiling hot dogs if its raining out,pizza in oven. However I wouldn`t grill steaks meat ect in the trailer. Just prefer BBQ for that. If its a great day I like to cook everything outdoors. Bought one of those Kuerig k cup coffeemakers. So handy in the morning.

We have cooked bacon inside several times. We have made tacos inside. I have baked salmon and haddock in the oven- always run the fan, have not had any lingering odors. We do, however, often buy the microwave bacon because it is easier than dealing with the grease.

Prefer to cook outdoors, but with limited storage and a big family, I don't want to lug another stove and and another propane tank with me. I was greatly saddened/displeased to discover the difference between HP propane (i.e. what a coleman stove uses) vs. LP propane (what the trailer has coming off the reg valve.) Otherwise, I'd ditch that goofy "RV-que" and replace it with my Coleman in a heartbeat.

My issue is space and kids-- start cooking food and they all start hovering around the stove. No room for that sort of behavior in the trailer! Plus, I could then start my morning coffee without disturbing the Missus.

We're pretty much newbies, but don't cook inside unless it's heating something like hotdogs, or nuking.

Don't like the smell of cooking in all the fabrics.

Except for the oven (for obvious reasons) we cook entirely outside. We're originally tent campers though, and still do back-country backpacking and kayaking trips. We're just more comfortable cooking outside when camping.

Nick's Lake or Enchanted Forest? I'm not allowed to fry stuff inside, but we do use the microwave and the oven. Grease 'n' all. Our camper came with an RVQ that hangs on the outside. Not allowed to use that either. Don't wanna schmutz up the awning! Tiny Weber gas grill and a gasoline Coleman (the only kind!)on a folding table. Outside.

I use a neutralizer spray in the camper. With 3 dogs & cooking it is used all the time. I spray the all the areas that have cloth, carpet & day/night shades. So far I have not noticed any odor in the camper for the 9 years I have cooked in it.

We bought our trailer last fall and only got to camp in it twice, but during one of those trips, I did KD on the stove inside. That said, we have since gotten a BBQ and electric burner to keep outside. I'd like to avoid cooking inside if possible. Our trailer is really small (18') and I don't want everything to smell like meat.... especially since I'm a vegetarian. ;)

They make a round screen to place over a skillet. This keeps the grease from splattering onto the kitchen surfaces. We haven't had a problem with food odors; just air out the trailer, just as you would air out your kitchen at home.
