Will This Battery/Inverter Combo Work For Our Needs

I want to thank everyone for their input in my resent generator/battery/inverter questions. So, I think I will probably pick up a couple of group 31 AGM batteries and a 2000 watt pure sine inverter (probably the Xantrex prowatt sw2000). I've already ordered the Honda eu2000 generator.

Much of the primitive camping we do now is in the UP or Northern Michigan and I'm sure we will enjoy a quieter generator experience with the Honda. I'm sure the battery/inverter will be an additional benefit but I am hoping it will also be a benefit when we are on the the road traveling to a more distant destination and wanting to spend the quick overnights at a Walmart, rest stop or truck stop. Will the battery/inverter be all we need for our morning appliance usage or will we still need to use a generator? Obviously, with the Onan 2500, it was a simple push of a button (and waking up the neighborhood) to get the coffee brewing, and hair dryer, drying. Anyways, that is all history.

For our morning coffee, we use a Keurig coffee maker which requires turning it on to heat up the water and then make two thermos's of coffee. Probably less than five minutes. Then my DW will require about 10-15 minutes to use her hair dryer and curling iron. And lastly, using the microwave for heating up some oatmeal.

I hope this isn't a dump question but I have never been able to get a good grasp of RV electrical systems and if it is questionable whether this will work, then there is probably not a need to invest in this battery/inverter system at this time. I'm just hoping it will work.

Thanks for you help and patience.

Roadlover, I would probably switch the Honda for some solar panels. I do the same type of electrical usage as you do. Keurig in the morning about 4 cups total, Electric hair dryer or curling iron and a toaster. We do a lot of boondocking only plug in when boondocking is not available.
I have two Optima yellow top AGMs (135 total AH), Onan 2500, 300W solar and a 1750 Powerwatt inverter. Before we got the solar I didn't dare run the inverter. The batteries would not fully charge by running either the generator or running the truck between destinations (even on a full 8 hr day of travel).
Since the installation of the solar panels our batteries are at 100% by noon.
Keurig uses about 2-3% of battery power per cup, toaster is at about 4-5%, curling iron and/or hair dryer is about 5-6%. So depending on usage our batteries are down to about 70%.
Running the Onan for two Hrs would get us about 3% of battery power.
We only use the generator for the occasional microwave use batteries and inverter are not big enough to start the microwave.
If I were starting over the only thing I would change is that I would get two 6V batteries. 6v batteries run in series will get you around 210 AH. If you have any questions PM me.

A few suggestions if you really want peace/quiet in the morning;
Boil water on the stove for French press coffee (best cup you'll ever have...and very easy) use some of the same water for your oatmeal...

DW has a hair curler thingy that uses butane cartridges.

We have a H2K genny...it's great...but other than winter camping, we never use it.

We can easily go 5 days on our 2 Gr 27 AGM's.

Honestly, you sound like a good candidate for solar power.

Yes it will work as intended. You are a bit light on battery for all that so you will soon need to recharge. May need to use less than high/max on the hair dryer.

Hi,

Sounds like about 25 minutes of use with 1500 watt devices. Let's call it 750-watt hours.

750 wh/12.8 volts =~ 59 amp-hours drawn from the battery bank.
Regards, Don
My ride is a 28 foot Class C, 256 watts solar, 556 amp-hours of Telcom jars, 3000 watt Magnum hybrid inverter, Sola Basic Autoformer, Microair Easy Start.

Don't have an answer, but another suggestion that might save some power.

I have been "cold brewing" coffee for the last 6 months or so, and doubt if I will ever go back to a coffee maker...in the camper or at home.
Cold brewed coffee is the best coffee I have ever had. You get kind of a coffee concentrate from the cold brew which you mix 1 part to 3 or 4 parts boiling water....that you can heat in a teapot on the burner.
Ran across the idea when I was searching for a coffee maker to replace my single brew coffee maker that bit the dust.

I have been looking at the Magnum MMS1012 inverter charger. It is not 2000 watt, but looks like a good unit.
Not sure if 2000 watt is too much for just 2 batteries.
