I'm almost done winterizing and covering my Flagstaff Microlite 23LB for the first time. After a little research, I have a few questions:1. Do people cover the open vents (furnace vent, fridge vent, hot water heater vent)? If so, what do you use? I've read that some people do but I can't figure out a good way to do it. Some say to use cardboard, tin foil, or plastic wrap but I'd prefer not to have to remove duct tape residue next year. Thoughts?2. I'm using an ADCO cover and I've read that some people leave a window cracked to promote some air flow in the unit. Thoughts?Thanks again!

I don't do either. I do put a container of moisture absorbing crystals in the rig to help with any humidity issues - not sure it's needed but it's inexpensive and seems collect alot of water.

JMO but duct tape residue is a minor consideration if it means stopping an intruder. Reflectix is a great product to use for sealing any of these potential rodent entry points ... I've done mine in previous years but one year overlooked the furnace vent and the following spring discovered a mouse (or mice) had made it into 2 of the 5 heating ducts in the trailer. The smell was AWFUL and the only way I could fix it was to replace the ducting. I suspect the mouse (or mice) climbed up the ADCO cover and made it's way into the duct by way of the furnace vent as there were absolutely no droppings or other signs he/she/they had made it into the trailer itself. When prepping the trailer for winter storage I close the vents, all windows, distribute Fresh Cab rodent control in the trailer, and put out a container of Dry-Z-Air and always find the trailer fresh & clean in the spring. :B

No cover.No covering vents.Windows and vents closed.Do cover the tires with tarps.Just let the trailer rough it out in the snow and cold. Hasn't hurt it in 8 years.

I never even thought about covering those this until i read this post.

normal winterizing process (pink stuff) and I leave open the roof vents, as I have max air covers.

I went with using some screen (like the kind used for a screen door) and blue painters tape. We'll see how well it worked in the spring. Thanks for all the suggestions.

The TTs sit on the dealers lots in all weather. No special covers and one presumes winterized.

I like to cover ours to keep the leaves, snow and dirt off unless we are planning a mid winter trip.

Never worried about the vent and other openings.

No problem with the blue tape because there is absolutely no residue left behind. Also, I am taping over plastic and metal vents that have no graphics on them.

So no one that has used blue painters tape has had any issues with residue or damage to the walls? I just don't want to leave it on for 4 months and then have it peel graphics or something off the camper.

Depends on where you live. Desert peeps close everything and insulate it all. Rodents are your enemy, use rodent packs in storage pods and never leave your shore cord unprotected.

Suggest you buy bug/rodent screens on Amazon that mount permanently over your fridge, furnace and water heater exhausts-- Work year round so no need for temporary winter tape over them. I also cover my TT( Adco- all climate) to keep it looking great, no fading of finish and decals. Close it up tight, put 2-3 damp rid moisture absorbing buckets inside ( will last 2 seasons) and the Fresh cab mouse pouches mentioned in previous post. If you take short cuts, you will pay for it 5 years down the line!

All windows and vents closed.
I use building wrap(tyvek) on the ref furnace and water heater. As someone posted, just cut a scrap to size open the cover and close it over the paper. It keeps snow from drifting into the openings.

It's amazing how many different approaches produce good results.

For me:

No cover.
Blue painter's tape over vents.
Crack open two windows.
Crack open both ceiling vents.
No moisture absorbers needed.

The cover is a good idea. I've used one for 10 years and credit it for my TT still looking like new -including the graphics. It keeps my Dri-Z-Air from filling up as often too. Without the cover I had to dump them three-plus times during the winter, with the cover it's just over once.
No to the vent being open. The tighter you seal up the RV the less dampness you'll have.
