Wireless camera with extended external antenna

Everyone,

I am looking for a wireless camera system for my travel trailer. I would like a camera that has the ability to use an external antenna. I was talking with a guy at the campground but I didn't get the name of the system.

He had a camera on the back of the trailer with a external antenna on the front of the camper. He said he didn't have connection issues this way. He had both a camera on the trailer and a license plate camera.

I really wish I would have gotten the name of the camera he was using.

Any ideas?

Thanks Much!
Jeff

This would be a great option with the new GM trucks which have wifi built in. I might look into this.

No cellular service needed. The old cell phone simply connects to wifi from your transmitter and receives the signal.

There are wireless backup camera transmitters on Amazon. I've not tested the range, but the one on the mustang can transmit from the license plate to the radio just fine.

I have a similar setup. I have a regular backup camera on the back of my camper, plugged into a Wifi transmitter on the front of the camper. I connect to the wifi transmitter with an old cell phone and use it as an observation camera system while I drive down the road. Spent about $80 through Amazon buying the parts (camera, 903W 2.4 Ghz transmitter, longer RCA cord, 12 gauge wire for power and waterproof shrink wrap) and installed it myself.

Works great, have occasional stutter while driving down the road, but otherwise it works great for about 1/5 the cost of buying a name brand system.

My Garmin BC20 is like this. Works great and you can adjust the lines to be exactly where the rear bumper and left and right sides are.
