We just concluded our third trip to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. It started out with a problem to solve. I did some due diligence, but apparently, that wasn’t enough. I ended up rewiring my extension for my hitch to get my wife’s uncle’s trailer brakes to work with my truck up until dark the night before.
This year we pulled his 18 ft Jayco TT behind my TC. A few weeks ago we hooked up to give it a shot. That resulted in an appointment to Camping World service department. Unfortunately, they either didn’t do the work, or check their work. The left turn and electric brake wires were reversed. That took a bit of troubleshooting which I paid them to do. Still to be done is talk to Camping World to find out what they think they fixed. The odd thing is 4 way trailer lights worked fine. For those following, yes, just the extension wiring was wrong. It’s been that way for 12 years. It never mattered before since I was towing different trailers with either surge brakes or no brakes.
In any case, we were able to get it done and leave early Saturday AM. After a drive all day, we stopped at my place in Montana and camped there for the night and had a pretty good view as normal.
Moving on, we got to the campground in Yellowstone and struggled to get into the trailer spot. Obviously, the person clearing the snow didn’t try to get a trailer in the spot before. ? After a few tries which included driving over snow that wasn’t cleared, I was able to get it in place.
I did drop my TC as well. That was eventful because I forgot to pull the ballmount that extended above my TC bumper even raised. Oh well, I have a small battle scar from trying to pull the truck out.
We were at Canyon for the entire time. The snow had receded enough by the 2nd day to find one fire pit. It wasn’t until the last day that ours came in view. The lights didn’t work in the men’s part of the bathroom until the last night. I believe it was the 2nd day before the bathroom was working at all and the 3rd day for heat to start working. Not really a problem but unusual for my trips. We were there the first week of operation. Something to consider if you can’t deal with issues.
We’ve been there before but wife’s uncle/aunt had not. In any case, it’s hard to not enjoy the sights.

Hayden Valley where we saw wolves, grizzlies, black bears, elk, turkeys, and of course, bison.
It was time to go home, but we got one last night of camping done at Potholes on the way back.
All in all a great trip even if I missed my favorite Ranger because I happened by his post on his day off!
