Those look really good . My plastic ones were cracked also but I salvaged them by using a SS band clamp around them .
Curious why you didn't use aluminum . Are you not concerned about the galvanic action ? I suppose in AZ it's not much of a problem . Do you still have the upper part of the antenna ?
I used bronze because it was available off of ebay for $4.50 each. They are the oil inpregnated type. I set it up different than the originals because I let the flanged bronze bushings rotate in the aluminum mount instead of around the aluminum pole. I drilled and tapped 4, 1/4"x20 holes on each bushing so I can lock them down with a wing bolt.
Yes, I do have the original antenna which I'm keeping stored away. I'll probably never use it. I also put a stainless steel bolt on the bottom of the outer tube, in case one of the inner busings come loose, the inner poles won't slide out of the bottom.
