Did not like it at all! poor controller in my opinion. My latest Lance came solar ready I went with the Zamp System, I love it! Far superior controller again IMHO. Very well made components, I also have there 180 watt portable panels 1st class materials. Good luckRe: Wood framed or aluminum 98 Winnie Adventurer? Thanks for the info, Winnebago's look pretty well made. Unfortunately this had delamination above the drivers door & wrecked the cabinet inside. I kept walking!Wood framed or aluminum 98 Winnie Adventurer?Hi all, going today to look at a 98 Winnebago Adventurer 33ft'er with a big slide. Got thinking that if it's wood framed that would be a huge problem with a big slide, but could be ok if it's aluminum. Does anybody know? This would serve as a 2nd RV & appears to be very clean & is very reasonable if it checks out well. Thanks!Re: Ok How about a front mnt Cummins Allegro Bay versus ????It is an 07 Tiffin, yes a 5.9 not a 5.7 as earlier stated. I should have known this as I drive a 24 valve a 99 with a Lance on it. It is loud but we actually like the noise (its does get quieter as it warms up at hwy speeds) I assume the MH would be about the same as our old pickup, can't drive it though as it is in CA & I'm in WA. We thought about flying down but its snowing out now, so I will probably bag buying anything right now. I just need to drive a bunch of them, but will probably end up with a Southwind (I like the floor plans & cabinets) with a Ford gas pot. Thanks you guysOk How about a front mnt Cummins Allegro Bay versus ????Talked to a dealer today about an older Allegro Bay with the front Cummins for about the same amount of $$ as a Southwind same yr with a V-10? Whats the informed opinions about the Allegro? I assume its the 5.7 Cummins which is a pretty good package, I like the Allegro Breeze but not the Maxforce engine. Of course if $$$$ was not a problem, yes I would go with a rear Cummins coach but do want to keep it small. Thanks you guys for your opinions!Maxforce Diesels Run like *&)& Away??Not buying today but want a MH up to about 34ft, I like the Southwinds with the V-10, but really like the Allegra Breeze with the diesel. I'm just really gun shy of the Maxforce diesels because of the bad reputations of the older Ford pickups. I know there less reliable than the Cummins, etc. Anyway should one shy away from this engine in a MH? I believe it the Maxforce 7 engine in these smaller rigs. I'm not trying to insult anyone with these, I just don't know. Thank you!Re: Towing a Ford EdgeI know this is regarding an Edge, but our friends pulled an 012 Ford Escape for a couple of years. He checked with a Ford dealer about towing and they said it was ok as long as he started every it so often and ran it thru the gears (which he did). But the trans still went out last summer in Spokane. I don't think it was an AWD but it was a V-6 but probably has the same trans a Ford Edge, (don't know for sure). Anyway something to think about before pulling the Ford Edge. I'll stay with pulling my Rubicon! (Even though my Wife drives a Ford Escape!)Re: Just lurking around the "A's"Made the mistake of walking thru an 012 Tiffin 32 Breeze today, loved the quality cabinets & floorplan. We like a sofa on one side & a seating area on the other side. Other than the Maxxforce diesel (POS) compared to a Cummins & the 100k price tag a beautiful unit. I'm sure the woodwork will just spoil me for anything else. Did see a Southwind 32 an 07 or so for about half the price, but they were closed. Has the better Ford engine & chassis, may have to check it out. May just be fine for what we want. I know some of you guys suggested go bigger, but I've just had a camper all my life (62 now) so really I just see another full length sofa (among a larger kitchen etc etc) by stepping up to a 40ft unit or so. Just more MH to maintain, more complicated etc. Besides I think maybe the resale could be better with a smaller Class A. Thanks again for the ideas & help!Re: Just lurking around the "A's"Thanks for the info, was looking at a 05 32V Fleetwood. After reading on the V-10 this may have the 3 valve head, being they came out in 05. What chassis is it? a 550 or a 650, am I correct that if its a 5 speed trans versus the 6 speed its an older chassis? At least the 05 would have the later heads with the 8 threads per spark plug hole. I know these are fuel hogs but any gas pot would be in a motor home, my brother in law just bought a new Jayco 31ft C with this engine & we followed him to AK this past Aug & couldn't believe how many times he stopped for fuel! Good thing I wouldn't drive this thing much, maybe I should wait & get a small diesel rig, thanks.Just lurking around the "A's":? Been looking (on the net)at gas class A's lately. Currently own a 2014 Lance 1181 on a Older Dodge diesel 4x4, which I plan on keeping as my camping in the hills rig. But do to the long wet winters in the NW, been thinking about a used A. My budget at this point is about 30-40k, I'm leaning towards a Fleetwood Southwind 32-34ft (want to keep it somewhat small for the parks etc. I also seem to be drawn towards the floorplans, wood finish etc of the Fleetwood's, I'm sure there are others more desirable (as the Fleetwood's are more entry level, correct?) Also trying to avoid the Chevy 8.1 & Workhorse chassis & going with the Ford, is this also correct? I really like the 33C Fleetwood but at this time is just to pricey, maybe I should wait a couple more yrs & let them depreciate more. Anyway appreciate opinions for my many questions, thanks!
