ChrisRe: 2006 Starcraft 14 R/T Pop-Top questionSorry...didn't know there was a specific forum I should've used. Thanks for the tip Eric. I'll give it a try but I had hoped to find a more permanent solution such as replacing the stock winch with a 12v electric. Also, while I'm sure the idea would work well for the stabilizers, the power needed for the roof is far greater. I have no difficulty with the stabilizers, just the roof. Chris2006 Starcraft 14 R/T Pop-Top questionWell, we completed our first RV trip with great success. From Yellowstone to Devil's Tower & Mt Rushmore on to Moab (Arches & Canyonlands) to Zion and the Grand Canyon north rim. Even Hoover Dam. All systems worked flawlessly and after 5233 miles, I feel like a veteran! I have but one question...due to health reasons, the only part of set-up/tear-down that is difficult for me is the raising of the camper top. Have any of you fellas installed an electric winch or some sort of electric-assist on yours? If so, I'd appreciate any tech advice. Thanks, ChrisRe: Starcraft 14 R/T furnace system questionsThanks guys. Pretty much what I thought. I believe my furnace size is 16000btu. My new 3500/3000w generator should recharge the battery each day. I'll just have to watch the gas supply. Charging with the car (SUV) would be less efficient I assume. I have two 30# propane tanks, so I guess that I'd have enough for 4 nights. As for other power usage, I doubt there would be much. Just an occasional overhead light and a small fan at sleep time. We don't expect to use the water heater....and the stove infrequently. We'll pass on the stereo as well....even though I doubt that it draws much. The battery is brand new too, so it looks like we're good to go. Thanks for your responses. It was very helpful. ChrisStarcraft 14 R/T furnace system questionsHi again all. I've tested the furnace and it seems to function correctly. After I closed up and covered the camper, I got to thinking...sheesh, I really don't understand how the furnace works yet and we're leaving soon for Yellowstone where there is no electrical hook-up and it will likely be quite cold at night. Can I assume that it is a Propane heater with a electrically run fan? If so, then it must have an automatic (piezo?) pilot lighting system because to test it, all I did was turn the thermostat up.... So, if all that is true, what I wonder is how much propane will typically be used overnight, and how much draw on the 12V battery is used? I realize that there are variables involved: outside temps, our comfort level, etc. I have a 3000/3500w generator that I can run the next day to recharge the battery, but I wonder if I will have to get the propane tanks filled often. Thanks. As always, your input is much appreciated. ChrisRe: Dometic 3-way RM 2193 gas operationFinally: She's already to go. All systems are A-OK. We've bought everything we can think of to make camping nice. We're taking off May 14 and heading (from southern Oregon) to Yellowstone, Big Horn, Keyhole State Park (Devils Tower, Mt. Rushmore, etc), the Rockys, Moab (Arches Nat'l Park), Hurricane (Canyonlands NP, Zion NP, Grand Canyon North Rim, etc.), Hoover Dam/Las Vegas, Death Valley, Mono Lake, and back home. 3-4 weeks. So you can see why I've been a bit anal about all the systems working! Thanks again all. Very nice people here. Cheers, ChrisRe: Dometic 3-way RM 2193 gas operationWell, it turns out I had to remove the burner cover box and check it in the dark to finally see it. Good spark, lights fine, all ok. Nothing was wrong. I just THOUGHT there was. Boy! That is really hard to see.... I thank you gentlemen for you assistance. Cheers, ChrisRe: Dometic 3-way RM 2193 gas operationThank you for your reply Old-Biscuit. Yes, all electrical switches are off of course, AC & DC. The piezo igniter makes a strong click but have no idea about the spark. Where do I look for that? Yes, the thermostat is on high, and I hold it down while plunging the piezo igniter several times (5-10) rapidly then hold it for 10-15 secs more...as the instructions say. Yes, the stove works...as well as the water heater. I already have that installation/service manual. If I can learn how to verify spark, perhaps I will do the maintenance procedures....? I saw no spark, but then again, I don't know where to look. Can it be lit by hand? btw: I could swear that I watched the service tech test it and I personally saw the small blue flame through the peak-hole when I bought it. This camper and especially the refer w/propane has been little if ever used. It is in VERY good shape. So, my guess is it is a very simple problem. I don't think I'm missing anything, but...I am human. Thanks again for your help! ChrisDometic 3-way RM 2193 gas operationHi all. I bought a used 2006 Starcraft 14 R/T pop-up camper recently. I have been in the process of checking all systems and found everything to be working well and in good shape except one. I have the original Owners Manual, but I found a few errors and it is also sorely lacking in detail. I also got very little "training" and this is the first RV we've owned. I hope you can help. The last system op I checked is also the only one I can't seem to get working. That is the GAS operation of the Refer. I have tried to light it up a dozen times, even tried to hand light it with a "BBQ Lighter". I know that gas is getting there to some degree, as I got occasional "puffs" when trying to hand light it. Could it be the piezoelectric starter, a clogged orifice, or ??? Can your invaluable experience point me in the right direction, please? We have a 3-4 week rv-ing trip planned in about a month, so any help would be much appreciated.Re: Water system on 2006 Starcraft 14 R/TMy rig:
