Just ordered stainless nutserts.Re: Tag mountingWhat are peel pop rivets?Tag mountingThe plastic tag mount broke off my 5th wheel. I fabricated a new aluminum mount but cannot figure out a way to attach it to the fiberglass on on the rear of my fiver. Screws through the very thin fiberglass? I don't that would last long. Any suggestions appreciated. John, 2012 Avalanche 290WARNING About RV CoversAbout a year ago I became worried about sun damage to my 2012 Keystone Avalanche. The graphics were becoming faded and the white layer of my EDPM roof was chalky. I decided to get an ADCO cover to protect it. After one year the cover was in tatters due the extremely cheap material and worse, wind blowing the cover has removed most of the white layer from the roof. Now I have to get the roof repaired or replaced. For those of you considering buying an RV cover, don't do it or live to regret it as I do. John in FlRe: Slide Out Awnings QuestionI use 3/8" rope. I can throw it over the topper, grab the end and pull it under the slide and tie it to the other end. Helps a lot. I ave a 16' topper and the ends are tight ; the flapping comes from play in the middle due to the roller bowing toward the slide in the middle. Have not found a solution for heavy winds except to bring the slide in. My other two slides are smaller and do not flap.Re: 50A Power Cable Coming ApartThanks to everyone for the tips and suggestions. Think I will stretch the outer sheath, put a stainless steel hose clamp near the plug to hold it there and some JB Weld or goop to seal it. Think I will do that to the other end of the cable too.50A Power Cable Coming ApartThe plug on the end of my 50A power cable has separated from the cable. This is the end that connects to the power box. This cable is only two years old. It still works fine but the gap is about 3/16" and I can see the wires inside of the cable. I have never put any stress on this cable. It looks like the rubber outer casing of the cable was not properly attached to the plug. Has anyone else run across this problem? I can seal the gap with gorilla tape but wondering if it is possible to have it repaired. Any inputs appreciated. Guess this is another example of sub par Chinese manufacturing. John in FlRe: Question on B&W CompanionAre you guys using Chevy or GMC 3500 trucks?Question on B&W CompanionI have a GMC 3500 4X4 with a 6.5ft bed. I am installing a Companion RVK3500 hitch to tow my 14,000 Avalanche 5er. Looking for someone with a similar rig to give me advice on setting up the hitch as far as where to mount the arms both vertically and horizontally for a level tow. There are numerous mounting holes for the arms and I am not much is a fan of trial and error with something this heavy. Thanks in advance, John in FlRe: Air bags needed for GMC 3500?I have 11,500 option. I will have to see how it tows; It does not sound like I will have a problem though.
