Topsail Hill State Park FL.
Bummer! Just got call 5:45pm from Reserve America about my two week reservation at Topsail Hill, beginning next week, that the park will be closed until Sunday 21 to evaluate storm damage cleanup. We visited Black Hills area last summer and also took drive from Hill City SD to Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway, saw Roughneck Falls - Bridal Veil Falls and then drove over to Deadwood SD (Wild Bill Hickok killed there) for rest of day. Glad to hear they are refurbishing more of the 100's now. The tree roots have played havoc with the old concrete slab pads when heavy trailers park on them. Unless they cut down the trees the gravel and timber lined method will be best option. Will be camping in Grand Tetons with 25' travel trailer, arriving Friday July 3rd staying thru 7th before heading to Rocky Mts. National Park. If I arrive at Colter Bay Village campground by 9am from Yellowstone, will I be able to get a campsite since approaching July 4th weekend crowd. We just came back at end of October from two week vacation at Topsail State Park-Santa Rosa Beach. While there we witnessed blackish sand on the beach where the inland lakes broke thru the dunes and washed brackish over flow water onto the beach during the April floods. You won't experience the white pristine beach there until the sand dunes are built up to prevent lake overflow onto the beach and possibly removal and replacement of existing beach sand near board walk area.666Views0likes0CommentsBears in Topsail Hill State Park Florida
Just got back today from a 16 day vacation at Topsail Hill State Park Florida and had several reported ranger or camper reported bear sightings in and around the campground area or on the shuttle road to the beach during our stay. We had a large black bear stroll the campground late yesterday beginning from site 123 to behind our site 160 and behind other sites thru 168.
