Most other factors I'd still give to a Diesel engine.Re: Best GPS for a motorhomeMy old, but really cool for its time, Nuvi 3790 finally died completely the other day. So my looking at possible replacement options over the last few years brought me to order the RV770 ... I really planned to do a tablet type GPS option and have various apps installed but in the end I opted for another dedicated GPS unit.Re: Traeger GrillsI got one and my other really nice AOG grill sat unused for over a year, so I got rid of it. I like the pellet grill because it's just so easy to get great results on everything BBQ unless you like meats heavily seared and on the rare side of doneness. The super even heat in any weather condition provides use of the whole grill surface. There's a lot of pellet grill choices in the last few years but I've never seen one yet that was near small enough for our smallish RV use.Re: Tong weight kg1d dx wrote: How do you measure tong weight? CAT scales, at your local truck stop, typically have 3 separate zones (steer, drive and trailer). To get tongue weight, it takes 2 passes; one with the trailer (distribution bars must be disconnected) and another with just the truck (no trailer). Tongue weight is the difference between "the truck" values (steer + drive) - (steer + drive). I recommend skipping past any instructions that have you disconnect ON the scale unless you own the scale!Re: 1978 Dodge Sportsman Brougham problemsWe really liked our Brougham. First, I wouldn't spend time finding an original coach manual (not likely of much use). General online RV troubleshooting information has always been better than the coach manuals. A chassis manual however can be handy. For the AC ... Common for loose screws in the buss bars or breaker connection, so make sure those are all tight first. Use your eyes and nose when inspecting and be sure to resolve any burnt component issues discovered. A basic multimeter can help determine if power is getting to the AC unit and then what happens to the power when turned on. It could be a bad capacitor or relay (anything look or smell burnt). Class C or B ... good luck with that ;) We settled on B+ as the nearest classification reference.Re: Safe-T-Plus Steering Control - Good or Bad?I'd recommend getting your caster adjusted near max. It will help greatly with highway stability and handling. If your drift is yaw or wag then a rear trac bar controls that motion. If your drift is to the left on freeway type surfaces but fine on secondary roads, maybe you have an alignment tuned for crowned roads (cross camber/caster). The question ... yes, shocks with increased dampening work great to fix the driver, not the vehicle. Return to center stabilizers like the STP are best for freeway type surface travel IMO where center adjustment is consistent. I've removed return to center stabilizers in favor of increased dampening without a center bias because my travels are mostly back roads.Re: towing a jeep$2300 installed would have been a good price in my book ... I went with the Aladdin for a bit lighter weight to mess with. Some information about several tow bar options at eTrailer Parts I picked from Amazon ... YMMV: Blue Ox BX1126 Base Plate Blue Ox BX4325 Aladdin 7,500lb Tow Bar Blue Ox BRK2012 Patriot Brake Hopkins 56200 Plug-In Simple Towed Vehicle Wiring Kit Reese Tow power 74686 Coiled 7-Way Blade to 4-Flat AdapterRe: towing a jeepWrangler's are about as easy as it gets to flat tow. Get either a base plate or bumper with bar pins built in to match whatever tow bar you like best. A light kit for a wrangler is plug & play easy to install too... and you'll be ready to roll with a brake unit. I got all Blue-Ox gear for my current Jeep and it's working fine so far.
