What is the wisdom of placing a high flow disposable filter in-line before the appliances to avoid particulates from impacting the function of stoves, furnaces, water heaters, refrigerators ?791Views0likes0CommentsRV Service Experiences- Two Different Service Centers
Here are some less than optimal RV service experiences: 1) brought our TT in for brake service and foolishly took advantage of the Service Center's "complimentary roof inspection". I knew the TT roof was basically sound because I had it covered all winter and did a quick visual inspection before dropping off the TT for service. The Service Center called me and emailed me photos showing there were holes in the sealant on the roof, and that the repair estimate was $1000. I refused authorization to repair the roof. When I had the TT home I went topside and found the Service Center tech had gouged various raised sealant areas. I cleaned up the areas and applied appropriate sealant myself. 2) at another Service Center I had the black water valve replaced because it had seized. The removal and replacement of the black water valve was good, but in order to access the valve mechanism the underbelly wrapping of the TT had to be cut and then re-taped. When I got the TT home I found the re-tape job was poor, there were various gaps which would let water and critters up inside. The quality of the tape used for the repair was very thin and suspect. I removed all the tape, cleaned the area with acetone and alcohol, and then reapplied good quality tape to the underside of the TT. In the case of the TT roof, I will never go back to that RV Service place again. When they called to inform me about the holes in the sealant, I mentioned the TT was covered all winter and I inspected the roof before bringing it in - and asked how the holes got in the sealant- I was told: "I have no idea". In the case of the black water valve repair, the re-tape job was shoddy. Why didn't I bring the TT back to the Service place? It is a 1 1/2 hour drive from my home. OP here. I picked up our TT from service, they could not find any issues with the lp stove, they informed me the stove passed a leak test. The also told me they could not duplicate the stove going to a low yellow flame, but I doubt they let the stove run long enough to see that. The furnace and frig don't have any issues running from lp. I changed out the lp alarm last month since the original one just exceeded the expiration date. To continue this thread regarding the diminishing flame on a lp stove Dometic/Atwood model RV-1735 BBP (flame starts high and blue, diminishes to a yellow flame after 5 minutes)... The refrigerator and furnace work fine, I believe the stove issue is part 51062, the stove regulator ($50 item). Part replacement seems problematic: out of stock or has quality control issues. I brought my RV in for service today, providing the above info. If a $50 replacement part is not an option, what options might I have? Replace the top assembly of the stove for $$$ ? I will try to fabricate a tubing/water/manometer, if this indicates the stove regulator is the issue, finding available replacement stock may be an issue. Looks like the regulator (Dometic 51062) is out of stock everywhere. Used regulators on eBay don't sound like a good option. Guys, the TT in question is a 2016 Winnebago Micro Minnie. The stove is a Dometic/Atwood model RV-1735 BBP. Looks like it is a rubber hose running about 15 feet under the TT. I can do a leak test on the stove regulator, but don’t have the gear to check regulator pressure. Looks like I can buy another regulator (#51062), and install/seal the connections. I think the oil particulate from the lp/rubber hose sounds like this may have impacted the regulator…793Views0likes0CommentsAtwood lp Stove Flame starts to die
With both lp tanks full, and performing bubble leak tests on the outside hose connections and regulator (none detected), I have an issue with our Atwood lp stove in our TT. I replaced the lp tank regulator but this did not resolve our issue: The burner flame starts fine right away, ignites high, I can regulate the flame down to a good blue cooking flame, but after about 5 minutes the flame diminishes and turns yellow. Thanks everyone. I have to redo the underbelly tape job done by an RV service tech - I had the black water shut-off valve/&cable replaced, the original underbelly of the TT had to be cut into in order to gain access to replace the valve/cable assembly. After returning home, I inspected the underbelly repair, and found several areas where the tech applied patch tape which did not cover some of the cut seams. I also did not find the patch tape to be of good quality - it’s a long drive for me to haul the TT back to the RV service site, so I’m redoing the patch tape job myself. Phil667Views0likes0Comments
