I expected August might have been crowded so we may have to settle for the month of September. I had rather be caught in snow than in a crowd. Of course there is always next June if push comes to shove. Thanks again.DeadWoodI know there will be varying thoughts on this but I am curious as to what cg's you like/dislike in the Deadwood SD area. We are spending three months on the Outer Banks this spring/early summer and then planning on another two to three months in this area. I am thinking of waiting until the Sturgis bike rally is over and kids are back in school before arriving. We want full hookups and don't care whether pull thru or back in.Re: Will pipes freeze overnight? When we plan on travelling during cold weather I just leave the thermostat on 40 for the furnace not the heat pump. It gets cold here but I have never had anything freeze up.Re: Factory ToursWe are taking our fiver up to Elkhart the first of October to MorRyde. I have had enough worries with bent leafs and broke spring hangers. While they are installing the IS and disc brakes we had a factory tour planned for Brinkley. A few weeks ago we had the chance to inspect a new Brinkley toy hauler. While the inside looked nice we were not that impressed with the rest of the unit. I have cancelled our tour and we plan to spend the rest of our time sight seeing and museums. If you are interested in the new models of Brinkley they are still accepting dates for early October.Re: Help with Refrigerator DecisionI have had several different rv's and all but the one I have now was elec/propane. My current one has a 23 cubic foot Frigidaire in it and I will never go back to propane. My stays plugged in year round and since my batteries charge while hooked to the truck long distance travel has never been an issue. We don't boondock so that is not an issue either. However if we did need to boondock I could hook the pigtail up to the truck and keep the batteries charged. I never expect to do that though.Re: looking for a camp ground in eastern N. Carolina for winterI would do the below for a extended stay. Cg is more centrally located to larger cities and is very quiet. https://raleighoaksrvresort.com/Re: The ArkSecond one for Whispering Hill. It is a nice cg and only a short drive up to the Ark.Re: Anyone towing an older Jeep YJ?I have a 1988 yj also. It is a 6 cylinder four speed. The only mod I have done is put a manual four wheel locking system on it instead of the oem one. I have pulled it behind a 40 foot dp motorhome. I sold my motorhome a few years back and went back to a fiver. But, I now pull it behind my F-350 to the outer banks when we are staying down there for 3 months or so. All you have to do is put the transmission in neutral, put the transfer case in neutral, leave the key in it so the steering wheel will not lock and go. For the tow bar, I purchased a hitch from Agri Supply and had a friend weld it to my bumper. I installed safety chains to make sure it never went anywhere in case. Simple set up. As far as stopping, I can not tell it is behind me in my truck or when I had the motorhome.Re: Driver’s license for DPsIn NC anything over 26001 lbs required a B CDL. All I did was download the handbook for CDL and studied it one night. Then took the written test. I also had to drive my dp with the examiner with me. Piece of cake. Since switching back to a fiver I plan to keep the B license now that I have it.Re: Pets left alone in RV at campground? We raised our two dogs from the puppy stage to full grown, camping and travelling in various vehicles. We also use cameras with sound so we can hear if the dogs bark and also speak to them. We had a temp and humidity monitor as well. The camera was tied into our inverter so if there was a power failure we would know. The Verizon mi-fi was battery back up which was connected to the camera and temp stik. Over the thousands of miles we have travelled and the number of cg's we have stayed we never had an issue with the dogs or the cg mgmt. I would not leave the windows open, rather cut on the a/c or just the fan if it is cool enough and leave a radio on. Leaving the window open will almost be sure to get them barking at something. Bottom line know your dog, prepare and always monitor.
