When you say "seafoam both engines" - do I just treat the fuel then run both engines for a spell to get the treated fuel into them? The local RV dealer says to use stabil, I had planned to use seafoam since folks here mention it a lot. Am I right to be planning to use seafoam or should I use stabil... Or both? Lol It sounds like good advice to put a load on the generator occasionally but I had planned to bring the batteries into my warm basement and the rv will have a full cover on it. Do you think things will be ok if I leave the rig alone until spring? I usually put decon in my fifth wheel for rodent control. Was going to do the same thing for the motorhome. What do yo all use? Thanks again for the tips. How do I get her ready for the long, winter nap?We just bought our first motorhome (2000 four winds 31z) and unfortunately, it's already time to park it for the winter :-( It was winterized already when we bought it so I don't have to blow out water or pump antifreeze... I'm curious what I should do for the engine and the generator? My plan was to park it on some 2x10's, pour some seafoam in the tank and run it for a bit. Then cover it up and start the long wait. What about the generator? Should I run that as well so it gets the seafoam treatment? Anything else (or different) I should be doing? Thanks in advanceRe: 1st motorhome - 2000 Fourwinds 31zThank you all for the replies! I will definitely look into the 5 star tuner, sounds like it will help a lot. I can't wait til spring!1st motorhome - 2000 Fourwinds 31zHi all! We just bought our very first motorhome and had to share my excitement here! We've been camping all our lives and have owned many RV's. Since 2004 we've been camping in a Laredo fifth wheel which we still have (for sale) and it's been a great unit. It's time for a new tow vehicle and another big truck is no longer a good fit for us so a motorhome was the logical way to go for our next RV! Buying new wasn't an option for us so we've been looking for a nice, used class C for several months now. We found this 2000 Fourwinds 31z for A LOT less than we thought we would have to spend and it's in nicer condition than any others we've looked at! I really think it's perfect for our family and I'm looking forward to some awesome trips in it. Here's a couple pics taken on the lot where we bought it: 2016-12-03_07-56-32 by jcv 2016-12-03_07-56-54 by jcv It was a fairly long ride home with it and it's very easy and relaxing to drive. It runs strong and smooth most of the time but at very low rpm it will lug and buck a little bit if I'm really easy on the gas. If I step on it just a bit it smoothes right out. It's like like if you're driving a manual transmission and you're in way too high of a gear and it bucks. I haven't tried turning the overdrive off. I've been browsing this forum the last few weeks and it seems most folks leave the OD on. I was going to take it for a ride today and try with the OD off but I wanted to mention it here to see what you folks thought. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions but for now I'm just going to tinker around with it. It's too bad it will be covered up soon until spring :-( lol Anyway, just wanted to say that I'm officially in the club!Re: Seatbelt usageOh wow I just noticed my sig! I still have the '04 F250 and the '05 Laredo. Bought both brand new and have really gotten my money's worth out of them! Sadly, our beautiful English bulldog, Dolly passed 2 years ago at the ripe old age of 12-1/2 Glad to be back here and looking forward to learning a lot about class c motorhomes!Re: Seatbelt usageThank you all for the replies! Someone recently told me that "most rv'ers" think it's safer not to wear seatbelts unless you're in the cab. I thought that sounded a little nutty but I don't know many folks who've owned motorhomes so I thought I'd ask here. I got the answers I pretty much expected. My kids are 15 and 18 and I will be making sure they're buckled up when the vehicle is moving. I've never worn a seat belt in my life in any vehicle but I've been trying to change my ways... Maybe this would be a good time to start ;)Seatbelt usageHi folks! I haven't posted here in a long time but this forum helped me make the decision on which fifth wheel and tow vehicle to buy many years ago and we've had lots of great times since then. The tow vehicle is getting old and I won't be buying another big truck so it's time for a change. We're planning to buy an older class c motorhome and we're in the process of sealing the deal on one right now. It's a 2000 fourwinds. I'll have tons of questions I'm sure but for now I'm just curious on how strict everyone is with seat belt usage? For example: would you make your teenage kids stay belted to the couch while traveling or would you let them get up and make a snack or use the bathroom? Anyone in the cab will wear their belts but what about in the house? Just curious what the class c pros have to say on this Thanks Jay
