Years ago I purchased a used BD3 trailer saver hitch and could not be happier. The hitch came with a Hensley Slider assembly and I have never used it. The slider has been in my basement and indoor storage since we got it. It has some rust as one would expect but otherwise functions. *Free free free*. (BD3 air ride hitch not included). Item is in Orlando FL. Unique item, but Hoping someone here could get some use out of it. If anyone is interested PM me. OJADCO Designer Series UV Hydro cover - any feedback? We recently moved out of our 5th wheel and into our new home. Eventually we would like to have an RV carport, open pole barn or other cover built on the property for parking. Until that time, I am looking at getting a cover to help protect the RV. Does anyone have feedback or experience with ADCO’s Designer Series UV Hdyro covers? These are almost 2x the other Adco offerings and for our 5th wheel it’s about $700. I don’t mind spending the extra money if this cover will last and protect. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks in advance OJRe: Carefree Awning strut replacement mlburst wrote: I replaced the struts on our steep pitch Carefree awning - here is a link to the part - strut Very useful site. It seems I have the flat pitch or at least the longer strut. Thanks OJRe: Carefree Awning strut replacementI will try them this week. Today was the day It annoyed me enough to start researching it. Lol ThanksCarefree Awning strut replacementOur 2014 Lifestyle’s 2013 Carefree awning (Travl’r model) seems to flap a little more than I would expect. The canvas is in good condition so I don’t think it is stretched. I suspect the gas struts are weak. Even with the serial number look up, I still have some uncertainty with the strut selection. Two selections - Steep pitch or flat pitch Since we have a 5th wheel and our awnings do NOT extend over a slide, I suspect we have the steep pitch. The awning has an 18 deg angle. Our gas struts have a 23.5” body (depending on if you measure from clevis or not). I suspect I need p/n R001331 has strut (35.374” ext length). Does anyone have any experience with these and if so, can you offer any guidance? ThanksRe: Water pressure regulator question (yet another) dougrainer wrote: NEVER use more than 1 pressure regulator at a time. Adding an extra will indeed diminish flow and pressure. I have a hook up at work to demonstrate this. I connect a standard in line RV regulator to the end of the shop hose(shop about 65 psi). I then add the 2nd and then 3rd Regulator and the customer sees that the volume pressure is almost none. MY preference is to have the Water Regulator(adjustable) at the CG faucet to help protect my potable feed hose from the sun and excess pressure. Doug I figured that was the case. I didn’t know the city water inlet was a pressure regulator as well until I had to replace it due to corrosion. Makes sense and thank you for the info! OJWater pressure regulator question (yet another)Built-in vs external in-line water pressure regulator. Our 5th wheel has a ShurFlo wall Mount Filler/regulator, this seems to be common on many RV’s (although our Minnie Winnie did not have one). This unit has a built-in 65psi regulator. https://www.pentair.com/en/products/accessories/rv-plumbing-accessories/pressure_reducing_city_water_entry_wall_mount.html Is this sufficient for water pressure management or should we still use an external / hose regulator at the water connection? I was using a regulator at the faucet set around 40psi and the water pressure is annoyingly low (ie. Can’t use more than one item at a time (faucet, washer, toilet, etc). Thoughts? Thanks OJRe: New R/V mattressWe recently moved into our 5th wheel and will likely end up living in it for many months. We quickly discovered the existing mattress is lacking. Even with the stay-at-home restrictions we were able to visit a local Sleep Number store and decided on the P6. We skipped the RV models in favor of getting a thicker top with the Sleep iQ and cooking. We just have to wait until the restrictions are eased enough so they can enter our “home” and remove the current mattress. Question; our current bed setup uses a metal frame with nylon webbing, that rests on a wood box (storage). Would or should we need to add a platform of plywood for the new mattress to sit on? Is anyone else using a sleep number on the metal frame with nylon strapping as a base? Thanks OJRe: Fireplace removal and repurposing space wgriswold wrote: DrewE wrote: If I had an actual woodburning fireplace in my RV, or even a little wood stove, I'd be very hard pressed to give that up. That's a hypothetical situiaton however. There are small wood burning stoves made for boats that could be installed in a trailer. Years ago I saw an ad for one that burned pieces of wood that looked like popcicle sticks. Small wall mount pellet stoves comes to mind. They can be easily vented outside.Re: Fireplace removal and repurposing space ScottG wrote: We use the heck out of ours. You might try it before you rip it out. Also, the compartment for ours was only about 10" deep (most fireplaces aren't any deeper than that). If you haven't already removed it anc checked, it may not be all that big back there. The depth might be the deciding factor. We have dual heat pumps, but admit the fireplace might be nice if we do any cold weather camping
