Generator replacement
I have a Generac in my 96 Dolphin. It works pretty well the only thing I've replaced is the controller. The generator is noisy, leaks oil, and the exhaust is very unpleasant. My previous motorhomes had Onan 'Quiet' series generators that were trouble free and could not be heard in the coach. I kept several manuals on my old Onans and I took measurement around the existing Generac. Seems really close dimensionally. Has anyone installed an Onan 5.5KW 'Quiet' series in their Dolphin. Thanks for the info, it has really helped. Luckily for me mine stopped under a gas canopy, with a towing service behind the station, and a brand new motel just around the corner. Everyone involved around Pioneer, TN was very helpful, It could have been a much worse situation if not for the locals kindness. I've purchased three motorhomes since 2005 on eBay. Have been satisfied with ALL three. Ask specific questions about the mechanical systems and roof. Make sure you get an answer on the site. My 96 Dolphin P30 chassis is in Pioneer, TN with the same problem. I'm back in Terre Haute,IN trying to get the same problem solved. There is a Schrader valve at the front of the intake manifold, you can read fuel pressure there. The 1996 Vortec is multi-port injected. I had someone suggest resetting the computer before you spend a bunch of money & time. Remove the battery cable for a couple of minutes. Sometimes the computer freaks out and shuts off the fuel pump on the earlier models with multi-port injection.229Views0likes0Comments
