All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Arctic Fox 27-5LWe purchased our Arctic Fox 35-5z new back in November of 2015. So far the only issues we've had is the window shade pulled out from the wall and a minor propane leak repaired this spring. $100 to repair at a non fox dealer. We've put on just under 20k miles on the unit and have used it in temps between -25 to 105 degrees. Lived in it between Nov-March in Gillette, Wyoming. Had the unit skirted, and made a noticeable difference in the winter months with the windy conditions of Wyoming. During the winter probably used 80 gallons of propane per month with the furnace set at 65 degrees. Ran the fireplace 16 hrs a day during the coldest times. We were never uncomfortable during these extremes. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.Re: New Ram 3500 PricingThat was the out the door price. That included upgraded tires and mud flaps. I was happy with the deal.Re: New Ram 3500 Pricinglist was over 67k. 9k off the sticker is pretty good.Re: New Ram 3500 PricingPicking up a 2017 Ram 3500 Laramie dually on Friday. Paid $58,974 in Gillette, Wyoming.Re: dual pane windowsI believe dual pane makes a huge difference in extreme temps. Just picked up a new Arctic Fox 5th wheel to live in 3 days a week here in Gillette, Wyoming. Just set it up this past Monday, and Friday morning it was -12 degrees. Have the furnace set at 60 degrees, running the fire place, and one electric radiator heater and it's a comfortable 69 degrees. Today it's 15 degrees, so far no fogging, and if you place your hands near the windows, you feel no cold radiating from the windows. I thinks the double panes, and having it skirted makes all the difference. BTW, the unit came with the dual panes and a 6 point leveling system, and coming from a unit with single panes, and no leveling system, I wouldn't be without either.Re: Cold weather operations adviceNot sure if I explained our concerns clearly. We'll live in it 3 days a week, and be gone the remaining 4 days. ThanksCold weather operations adviceNeed some experienced cold weather operators advice. Planning on full timing 2-3 days a week in Gillette, Wyoming. Seeing how our 5th wheel (Arctic fox 355 Z) will be abandoned 4 days a week I'm seeking some best practices to avoid any problems. The unit will be skirted and we'll have an auxiliary propane tank (250 gallons). Here's my thoughts: Shut everything off, including refrigerator. Dump all tanks, black ,grey, and fresh water. Shut off water at supply source, we're having a custom heated water hose made. Close all slides. Furnace at 55 degrees. 55w bulb in tank area. unit has heated tanks in the under belly, no heat pads. Any input? ThanksRe: Black HillsIn regards to the "Disney of National Forests" comment, the commercialization is centered around 3 cities, Custer, Keystone, and Hill city. The Black Hills Nat'l forest is almost 2,000 square miles, and has a wilderness area. If one never left their vehicle, stayed in town, you might get that impression. Get off the beaten path, get a National forest map, and you'll find plenty of places to camp and explore. Might also suggest a cruise through Spearfish canyon.Re: RV Salesman "It's 1/2T towable"I just traded in my 2012 Toyota Tundra for a 2015 Ram 3500 SRW diesel. We pulled a Rockwood signature ultra lite 5th wheel, probably went just under 9k loaded. Could the 1/2 ton pull it? Yes, on flat ground. Once you hit some grade, it was jerky, constantly searching for gears and maybe got 8 mpg. Pulled for the 1st time today the new Ram, big smile on my face, and it felt like I was towing a 16' aluminum row boat.Re: Accessories for my new RamJust picked up our 2015 Ram 3500 SRW 2 weeks ago. Added mud flaps, Luverne prowler max stainless grill guard, weather tech mats, OEM running boards, and some Cabela's cheapo seat covers for now. Any recommendations for seat covers?
