DUH!Re: Unloading and camper support4' X 8' X 3/4" sheet of exterior grade plywood. rip it into 4 ea. 2' X 4' pieces on the table saw, then cut a 3/4" wide "slot" at the center of each that is 1' deep to allow 2 pieces to slide into each other to create an 'X' shape. One sheet of plywood will make 2 ea. 'X's', place one under the front and one under the rear of the camper and lower until it rests on the two 'X's'. I place the plywood flat on the bed of the truck before I load the camper. I have studied lots of different brands of trailers over the years and I am convinced that Interstate trailers are the best over the long haul. I am looking to get a wide and tall 14'-16' Interstate built to replace my current trailer and I will not consider any other brands. PERIOD.Re: Weight police?Nah, he's fine. This is what happens when you cinch your tie-downs too tight.!!! LOLRe: Real-World weights aruba5er wrote: Funny how it's all on the rear axle. With the camper, the front axle is only #26 heavier than without. That was one of the things that surprised me about my numbers as well! As I stated, my truck is a quad cab and I can just see the front of the cabover through the windshield when I drive, yet it only adds 320# of weight to the front axle. Makes me wonder how much good it does to put my generator in the back seat vs. in the camper itself! JeffReal-World weightsSo I finally took my truck and camper to the CAT scale. I've found real-world numbers hard to come by, so I'm posting them for all who are interested. I think it would be a great resource to have a sticky thread for people to post their actual weights. My truck: 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 QC LB 4X4 SRW 5.9l CTD. Stock 17" aluminum wheels w/ Toyo 10-ply tires (3,200# rated at 80 PSI), Hellwig Big Wig rear sway bar, air bags, Torklift frame-mount tie-downs w/ Torklift Fastguns. Truck Weight with 1/4 tank fuel, 220# driver and tailgate: Front axle: 4,540# rear axle: 2,740# total weight: 7,280# My camper:2002 General Coach (Thor) Corsair 9'2". Wet bath, 27 gal. fresh, 18 gal. grey, 19 gal. black, 11 gal. propane. title lists dry weight as 2,624# Mfg. lists dry weight as 2,497# Actual Camper weight with 1/2 tank fresh water (14 gal?), empty black and grey tanks, full propane (40#) and all the gear that always stays in the camper: 3,300# Combined weight of truck and camper as described above: Front Axle: 4,860# Rear Axle: 5,720# Total weight: 10,580# I feel much more comfortable going down the road now, just knowing exactly how much, and where, my weight is distributed! Regards, JeffRe: So, you are camping and you want to unload your truck camperI bought a sheet of 3/4" (4' X 8') marine plywood and ripped it on the table saw into 4 ea. 2' X 4' pieces. Then I cut a 3/4" slot in the middle of each piece of ply that was 12" long. I lay the 4 pieces of ply flat on the bed of my truck, and load the camper right on top of them. When I want to take the camper off while camping or on the road, I simply make 2 "x-braces" out of the 4 pieces of ply by standing two of them on edge so they are 24" tall and inserting the two others, matching the slots to make an "x". I then slide them under the camper and simply lower it onto them. If the ground is uneven, I use my "lego" leveling blocks at the corners where necessary. It works very well!Regards, JeffRe: Spotted today in Aloha Oregon GeoBoy wrote: Oh don’t worry they have the tailgate on, that makes everything betterrrr.:B Note the 420 sticker on the window.
