I figer the reinforcement from the corner with 1/8" steel welded to a 1/8" angle should beef up the tie down area.Re: is 2500 +/- each way road trip pratical in 10 days?Wife and I use to drive a big truck and before they changed the hours of service rules we drove non stop except for fuel and once every 5 hours to swap drivers and going from Virginia to California and back in a week was done a few times but after each trip we were out of hours. But that was in a big truck and we cruised on cruise control at 55 mph. Now that we're retired we choose not to.Re: What leveling system should we put on our TCI just downloaded 3 real neat level systems free for my iPad one uses the camer on front and you can see if what your looking at is level another one is a bubble level just lay the iPad flat and it's a bubble 4 direction level best of all they are free and do not need the internet to work. So if you have a iPad this is the way to go.Re: Proper wood for trailer repair Phase 1 investigation and just as I expected got some wood rot to deal with but the corner wood post looks to be in good shape. As I get further into the repairs I'll take more pictures of the processRe: Proper wood for trailer repairLots of great information I'll post pictures when the repair gets started. But a lot of good info thksProper wood for trailer repairOk I believe that I still got a good deal on my TC but now I get to experience repairing the drivers side front corner where the support jack is. While my torklift fastguns were fastened down I noticed that where the tie down I bolt is attached that about a 1/2" gap appeared. This is right where the refrigerator vent is. Taking the access cover off I and see where a leak has caused some wood rot. I plan on removing the support jack take off the fiberglass around the area of the refrigerator access vent and replace the wood in that area. Also putting in an aluminum 3"x 2" angle support 8' along the bottom edge with both tie down I bolts going thru it with additional lag bolts attaching it to the bottom corner area. Then weld a flat aluminum 3" by 2' piece that the bolts that attach support jack with 1/4" longer lag bolts securing it to the corner since the aluminum will be 1/4" thick. I'll post pictures as I get into this project but the question is what kind of wood do I use for wood framing that I have to replace?Re: Update with a Super Hitch and a Super TrussAfter driving 1.5 million miles as an OTR driver I have seen my fair share of improper tow setups on many diff vehicles. The cost difference between a super hitch extension and others is a small price to pay for having it for a towing event that a person may need. To me it is just smart to put on the best for what you need even if it means getting something which some ppl consider overkill. Just my bullet for the dead horse.Re: Update with a Super Hitch and a Super TrussGreat looking setup.Re: Leveling truckWhy not just add a couple extra springs to each side. If you shop around that should only set you back roughly $500.00 but would have excellent control. I did that on my 98 Tacoma when I put on a heavy duty contractors aluminum large cap which I installed in 2000 and still own and it drives great. I have not done it to my ram yet but will this spring.Re: ShocksI put bilstein on and they're worth the money great control I also have them on my 1994 pace arrow MH. You can feel the control.
