But then we'd have to take the cap off and I don't want to do that since the bed is full-time storage for various other camping gear. So it looks like this idea is pretty dead. Thanks for all the info.Carrying a scooter (motorbike, not mobility scooter) ?I'm considering the possibility of mounting a platform to the rear of our 26 ft. Jayco travel trailer (not a fifth wheel) for the purpose of carrying a scooter. Thinking of something like a Yamaha Xmax 292 cc with a wet weight of approximately 400 lbs. Knowing that the rear bumper is only good for storing the sewer hose, such a carrier would have to be securely welded to the rectangular tube trailer frame itself. But then with an extra 400 lbs hanging off the rear end I can imagine a potential problem with the sway it might cause. Has anybody ever successfully done this?Stuckey'sWhile traveling in my youth (not too long ago) I remember stopping at Stuckey's for snacks and cool souvenirs. I think they also served meals. Stuckey's seems to have disappeared. At least in these parts anyway. However, don't they still exist in the southeastern states, or throughout the plains? We're going to make a loooong road trip in the near future and I'd like to take a little trip down memory lane by making a Stuckey's stop.Re: Roof vent lid gone... how did this happen? Here's the answer to the security video question. The storage office guy and me, we did look through video. Not tapes but MPEGs on their computer. Flipped his monitor around so I could see it too. Occasionally blurred by rain on the lens but maybe 80%-90% of it was nice and clear. We never saw anybody up on the roof in any of that video.Re: Roof vent lid gone... how did this happen?Okay, I'll say it was one of these recent storms. The center bar was still in place, and the screen was still in place, and perfectly intact. No damage to either of those things. One would think if somebody was going in through the top they might at least try a little harder. And yeah, the door or a window would have been easier. Thanks for the suggestions, no doubt that was a pretty cruddy lid since it lasted barely a year.Re: Roof vent lid gone... how did this happen? It was definitely closed. We never open that one over the bed. The storage office guy did look through their video (very nice of him) starting on Feb 2 but at 8x normal speed, and said it captures video only when it detects movement. The video didn’t show anybody go up on the roof. Regardless, I am going to put MaxxAir covers on. At least on this vent anyway. The other two are Fantastic Fans.Roof vent lid gone... how did this happen?I went over to the RV storage place the other day, opened the door to our trailer, and found the front bed completely soaked. I looked up and to my utter amazement found myself staring up at the sky through the roof vent above the bed. The vent lid was completely gone! I hitched up the trailer and stopped by the office on my way out. The office guy thinks the lid was ripped off by storms but I find that hard to believe. I think somebody was trying to get in. I told him to start looking at their security video while I brought the trailer home to dry things out. The sheets and comforters and all that went into the wash but the mattress is toast. These plastic vent lids can get brittle, so in late 2017 I got one from Amazon and replaced the old lid, which was indeed brittle and almost falling apart in my hands. But a new one can't go bad in 15 months... or can it? I still think somebody was trying to break in.Re: Route from Visalia, CA to Loomis, CAI've towed on that section of 49 north of Mariposa and it was definitely not fun.RV storage in Paso Robles CADoes anybody have any suggestions for RV storage in or around Paso Robles? There used to be storage at one of the RV parks there but that appears to be gone now due to land use issues with the county, I have heard. Is that still the case? Hoping to hear from anybody in that area.Getting a premium site at Pismo Coast VillageEvery time we've been to PCV, we end up in a very narrow site. I can barely get the rig into it. Meanwhile, there are nice wide sites sitting empty the whole week. So how does the general public (I'm not a PCV shareholder) reserve a premium site? I've asked this question when making reservations in the past and they just sort of danced around that topic.
