I went there about 18-20 years ago I had to make time just to go to the fence and watch a couple of cars go around.The end field was one large party night and day. The last day people would burn down there stands that they built to watch the race on. It was a great party. I upgraded to the 16 inch wheel and used 225-75-16 tires. I originally went with the bfg commercial ta tires but after 2 years I had a belt separate. This was the third commercial ta this has happened to me with the other two were 265-75-16 on the front of my box truck. I called and talked to bfg due to them already having a recall on that brand tire for this issue but none of my tires sizes were on the list.But they ponied up and paid 95% of tire replacement for any Michelin tires I wanted. I now have a set of Michelin ribs on the trailer. Cost me out of pocket around $150.00 for mounting and balancing with new metal valve stems.I am a happy customer but I will not be buying any more commercial ta tires.401Views0likes0CommentsRe: DROPPED IT
I will admit it I did it once. I had just pulled into my spot at the campground late I might add. My friends came over and were talking to me I got out of my routine put the landing gear down on the blocks pulled the pin and watch the trailer slide back until it hit the ground. luck for me I had the landing gear down and not enough damage to worry about on the truck and none to the rv. I had a canvas shop make up some covers for the sky lights. We removed a few screws and screwed in snaps that hold the double layered canvas in place. Now if I want a little light all I have to do is unsnap some or all of the cover.147Views0likes0CommentsRe: Towing with 1 ton
I use a Chevy 3500 box truck for work it weighs in right at 10.000lbs. With a 4.10 gear in the rear it is a gutless pig. I live in Florida and if its a windy day the motor will work hard enough that it does not have enough vacuum to redirect the ac to the lower vents. It also down shifts on the over passes. A lot of this has to due with the fact I went from the stock tires 245-75-16 to a 245-70-19.5 about a 3'' taller tire than stock. To off set the tire height difference and to give the truck more pep and reduce the load on the drive train I am installing a 4.88 gear set when I slow down a bit with work. To sum it up I would not try and tow that big of a fifth wheel with the small motor.193Views0likes0Comments
