All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsCan GSRS help me?My slide-in truck camper got sideswiped when it was off my truck in the storage area where I keep it. The legs were half-way extended when this happened. As a result, although the legs themselves didn't bend, they were knocked askew, and they (the front legs only) are no longer perpendicular, that is, not directly in line with their mounts. I have to get the camper on my truck to take it to be repaired. To do that, I have to extend the legs fully. I don't dare do that until the legs are straight up and down and land directly beneath the camper. The only way the legs are going to get straightened out is if the weight is taken off of them. I have discussed this with a number of people, and we all agree that what is needed is a forklift, lift the camper, straighten the legs, extend them, remove the forklift, and back my truck under it. I called GSRS, and talked to an operator who didn't have a clue. She had never heard of a slide-in truck camper before, and certainly was unable to visualize what was required to get me out of my predicament. The best she could do, was tell me she would send out a mobile mechanic That's better than nothing, but it isn't a forklift. I am left wondering if Good Sam can even help me. If not, who can? Thanks for listening. Any and all suggestions will be appreciated.Re: New truck and camper questionsWe have our 1121 on a 2006 RAM 3500 diesel with DRW (and the camper package). Our GVW is 12000#. I'd hesitate putting it on a truck with SWR. Your truck itself wouldn't have a problem, but the tires might. PeterRe: Ohio Valley Truck Camper Get together ----- June 14, 15 2013Hi and greetings! Yes, the group is still sort of intact. A few of us email each other now and again. There was a get-together last month, with the word being spread by email. I don't know why it wasn't posted--we were never an exclusive group, the more the merrier, we felt. The danger was of not having enough people, never too many. Anyway, if you are interested in seeing who is still interested, post on a thread called "Ohio Valley Truck Camper Get-together" and see who replies. The group held pretty regular spring and fall get-togethers for about four years. Then interest dwindled. We had to stop going for the past couple of years because of various family complications. We are hoping to go camping again this fall, and I was planning on posting it, but I can't guarantee that that will happen. Look back to look on previous posts to various "Ohio Vally Truck Camper" threads to see who were active. The ones I can remember off hand are CDL2 and SPOTT. You can PM them. If you want, I can probably find another couple of names for you, if you'd be interested. I just can't think of them now. Anyway, we all always had a really good time. Anyone was welcome. On Saturday night we would have a pot luck dinner. Sometimes people stayed through Monday. It can't hurt to try to revive the spark! PeterRe: Ohio Valley Truck Camper Get together ----- June 14, 15 2013Hi everybody! Marcia and I are really sorry that we couldn't make it to see old friends and make new ones. It sounds like everybody had a ripping good time. Marcia is rehabbing a house that has to be ready to rent on July 1st and is overwhelmed with work. I was going to come but ran into a nasty problem with my jacks--the camper is half-way up and I can't get the electric jack system to activate. I'm exploring various solutions, none of which have me cranking the damn things down by hand. Spott, thanks a lot for the pictures. We're looking forward to the ones Paulette will hopefully be posting. PeterRe: Can't get my electric jacks to work! All the tips are appreciated. I'm picking up a battery tonight. If that doesn't do it, I'll crawl under the sink to see what I can see. Jumbo: Touch the jack cable to the battery? What battery? Do you mean the drill? Thanks. PeterRe: Ohio Valley Truck Camper Get together ----- June 14, 15 2013Our camper's curse has struck again. I can't extend the legs to load it on the truck. The switch that arms the jacking system doesn't light like it normally does, so I'm thinking a breaker or solenoid somewhere (I changed the remote's battery so that isn't it). I posted a cry for help on the TC forum with the details as I know them. This puts a real crimp in my ability to join you all this weekend. :( I can operated the jacks by hand, of course, but this being the first time we'll have been camping this year there is everything to do to get ready. I don't know if I can crank and shop and so forth in time to make it to Deer Creek. How long does it take to fully extend on of those puppies by hand, anyway? Is there an affordable 12VDC to 120VAC inverter that is powerful enough to power an electric drill from the truck (I don't have AC power where I store the camper)? I hope I can make it, but... PeterCan't get my electric jacks to work! When I went to extend my jacks to load my 2005 Lance 1121 camper, all jacks were dead. What seems to be happening is that the system is not arming. By arming, I mean when I pressed the momentary switch near the floor by the door, the switch did not light up as it normally does. More information: The camper battery is dead, so I was jumping it with my Jeep's battery. The slide-out worked fine with that arrangement, but the jacks (arming switch) still didn't. I looked at the breakers and fuses that I know of but didn't see anything that said "jacks." Is there a breaker or fuse for the jacking system that isn't in the breaker/fuse box with all the others? Is there a solenoid somewhere that might be malfunctioning? Replacing the battery wouldn't hurt, of course, but would it make a difference, considering that I had the Jeep powering the camper anyway? Of course, I can crank by hand, so I'm not completely dead in the water, but that's a full day's hot and sweaty work! Any hints that you kind souls can come up with would be greatly appreciated. PeterRe: Ohio Valley Truck Camper Get together ----- June 14, 15 2013We, or at least I, hope to be there Friday (at least we have the reservation). We'll bring a salad, enough for all. Marcia is rehabbing a house that has to be ready for a July 1st rental, so she may not be able to make it. She'll surely try, though. PeterRe: Ohio Valley Truck Camper Get together ----- June 14, 15 2013We've taken site #78. See you all there! Peter & MarciaRe: What's behind the name? Screen name that is.I'm famous in my own mind. :C
