setting five months run the engine or not?
We're setting in the South for five months and a discussion came up as to whether to run the engine once a month or not.. I was allows told not to unless you could go out on the road and run for 20 mile or so.. Cummins is where I got that, but what about gas engines?? What about starting just till the oil pressure comes up and then shut off??(30 to 45 seconds)Thanks.. We have an '03 38' Holiday Rambler Motorhome with 13,500 AC front and back.. Each has its own thermostat, the old slide rule type.. The temp can be 75 in the coach and the AC will keep coming on even if I have the thermostat on 85+ degrees.. Then it may start short cycling sometimes.. First is your coach suppose to charge both banks when you're on shore power?? What kind/how big is your inverter?? Most coaches do not charge both banks.. You'll need to install a charger between the banks that will take the charge to the engine batteries when you're on shore power.. Try Hadley-products.com that's where I got our horns.. We got the Bully Horns and put under the front and pointed them straight ahead just under the cap so there even with the front edge..
