Out of the 1500 lbs carry, that incudes everything and everybody in the cab,bed and tongue weight? Is that correct ? Out of the 8700 lbs tow, that includes the trailer and all its contents? Is that correct? Just trying to make sure I'm reading this correctly. Thanks again for all the inputRe: Curt WD hitch setupGood idea, will check that out tonight. Your thinking 700lb in bed and maybe 500lb tongue weight is too much?Re: Curt WD hitch setupThx for all the info guys, right now I think the ball is about 1" higher. My driveway is not completely level so that's a little bit of a guesstimate. I'm also guessing that when I load a couple dirtbikes, tool boxs, etc. in the bed it will drop some more? My plan is to pull it somewhere level after were loaded up and complete/adjust my setup from there. I'm sure there's gonna be more questions coming as I start towing this thing around?? I've never towed anything this big before so there's gonna be a learning curve I'm sure. Thx again PS: camper is a 06 Springdale 189,sticker says 4500lbs with 450 tongue weight. Are those manufactures stickers fairly accurate? Should my 12 Ram 1500 4x4 with 5.7 hemi pull it ok? I'm guessing we put a extra 700lbs of bikes, gear in the bed of truck and maybe 300lbs more in the camper.Curt WD hitch setupFirst camper and trying to get WD hitch ball height set correctly for my truck. Camper setting level i measured to top of ball hitch. Truck setting level I want to adjust hitch to where the top of ball is same height as camper hitch. Since the holes for ball adjustment height aren't in the perfect spot for level,I have to choose to have the ball either a little high or a little low. I'm prob being way to finicky but in this situation,is it better to tow with trailer a little high in front or a little low?Re: Newby water heater question.Read this "Basic Suburban Heaters" I realize your not supposed to start one without water, was just trying to do a quick test of the appliances and couldn't get main burner to light? The manual is for many different models with very little said about the basic SW6P model. I can't find any reset or anything of the sort. So still wandering if maybe there's a fail safe sensor of some sort that won't let it fire without water in it?? Anyone ever heard of that before?Newby water heater question.I just purchased a used 2006 Springdale 189 travel trailer with a Suburban sw6p water heater in it. Do you manually have to light pilot with a open flame(lighter)? Are there any electrical connections running to this model,I haven't seen any? I can get the pilot to light manually and stay lit,but can't get the burner to ignite. I haven't filled the tank with water yet I was just trying to get burners to light to test it,would there happen to be a saftey device/switch that keeps burner from lighting if there is no water in tank? Thanks for the info. I'm sure I will have many more questions as I start using the camper.Newby water heater question.I just purchased a used 2006 Springdale 189 travel trailer with a Suburban sw6p water heater in it. Just to be on the safe side I mounted a Schumacher battery charger/maintainer under the frame and hardwired it to the battery. Charges at 1.5 amps until full then automatically switches to maintenance mode to keep battery topped off. I plan on keeping the charger alone plugged in all summer when its parked in the driveway then store the battery in heated garage for the winter. Does this sound like a reasonable setup? Schumacher model SE-1-12S-CARe: Is it ok to camper plugged in all the time? How do I tell what kind of converter I have? Where is it located? Is it ok to camper plugged in all the time?I apologize in advance for all the questions, this is my first camper and I've got a lot to learn! I just bought a 06 Springdale 189. Is it ok to keep a camper plugged into shore power all of the time to keep the battery charged? What are the pros and cons of keeping it plugged in? Im assuming that all campers have a built in battery charger that will keep the battery ready to go,any chance it will over charge the battery? Does the onboard battery charger automatically go into a maintenance mode when battery is fully charged? Am I better off keeping it on a battery tender type of battery maintainer vs the onboard charging system? THX
