All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: selling motorhome questionsWe sold the last 2 campers, snowmobiles, all kinsa stuff on CL. The last camper, the bank still held the title and a balance on the loan. The way it worked, since most don't just have $20K cash laying around.....the buyer gets a loan at their bank. The buyer's bank contacts the bank holding the loan. Balance is paid, title goes to the buyer's bank, seller gets the rest of the $$. No worries about BS cashier's checks, and no large amounts of cash changing hands. Worked pretty darn slick. Benefit to selling outright, whether on CL, Classifieds, or just a for sale sign......you get MUCH MORE than a dealer will give for trade in. In our case, almost double what the dealer offered. Just don't be in a hurry to sell. We figured, any offer over trade in was money in the bank. You also have to have a good BS filter. There's always someone trying to scam. Good rule of thumb......ALWAYS in person transaction. DO NOT bite on the "My Courier" or "Delivery Driver" crap. If they're not going through a bank for a loan, CASH ONLY. If they can get a certified bank check, they can get cash.Re: What do you do with your power cord?My last camper had the hard wired that you had to stuff in the hatch. Used to skin my knuckles every time and was always going to replace it with a detachable plug. We had a rash of thefts in this area where people would pull as much out of the camper and just whack it off with a bolt cutter. Anyway......the KZ MXT has the detachable cable. I have 3 rubber-maid type tubs in the pass through. One for sewer attachments. One for fresh water stuff. And one for electrical. The garden type hoses and the heavy electrical both get coiled up and I use a couple of the bungee cords with a ball on the end to keep them tidy.Re: Fresh water tank sizeIt seems, unless you go toy hauler you're going to be looking at 40 gallon or less. Of course, there's always the option of putting in a bigger or 2nd tank.Re: Texas registration for THSo a few years back, Colorado changed the way they do taxes on vehicle registration. Where it used to basically be a flat fee plus sales tax on a new vehicle "purchase Price".......NOW it's based on some goofy calculation of MSRP or the "value" of the vehicle, and GVW plus the normal "fee." And instead of it being just the first year, they tax you each year on the current "value." While that annual fee and tax ticks down over the course of several years, this year I'm looking at well over a thousand dollars for taxes and registration for the new KZ MXT.Re: inverter generator storage during useThere's all kinds of security devices out there. Cables on a reel that bolt to the frame of the TT.....etc. I have a topper on the truck. It, as well as the tailgate both lock. But of course, I don't always want to carry it around if we need to run to town or something. Often times I'll put it under the tongue of the TT and run the safety chains through the tube frame. Then a good padlock through the chains. Our new TT will have a generator rack on the tongue. I'll have to figure out a way to secure it there. As for sheltering.......if it's running, I usually don't want it right next to the TT. But if it looks like rain or nasty weather just set it under the TT. Try to pick a location where water won't run down hill right to the generator. Remember to point the exhaust away from the TT.Re: Looking for new spot to go in Colorado thebudman wrote: Ah, Colorado in the spring: the aroma of weed-smoke wafting through the air. I imagine with April 20th rolling around, there must be some top-notch events being held state-wide. A chance for Colorado to highlight the best and the brightest the state (and surrounding areas) have to offer. Rocky mountain high, Colorado.... Yep....cause that's all we do here in CO. Hey "budman" I think the CA weed smoke is drifting into Reno. There's a Ton of states that have legalized the Medical MJ. Which anyone with 2 functioning brain cells knows is just the open door to recreational MJ. Making it legal doesn't mean everyone is doing it. Just like legal prostitution in Nevada doesn't make everyone a hooker.Re: Owners manualOur Coachmen was a new dealer purchase, so it had a stack of manuals with it. I bought a bunch of the clear plastic sleeves and put them in a big 3 ring binder and stuck them in a cabinet inside the TT. The new owner of the Coachmen really appreciated having all the manuals. I'll likely do the same with the new KZ MXT when it gets here. As for a Make/Model specific RV Manual, like others have said, most don't really do one anymore. It's more of a general overall "This is an RV" type of manual. It's also a good idea to keep an electronic copy if you can find them to download. I have an entire file on my computer with Pics, manuals, diagrams etc for damn near everything.Re: Looking for new spot to go in ColoradoVega State Park. The trails for the Grand Mesa start at the campground.Re: CableIf your campground has a cable TV hookup, it's usually somewhere on the power post. I have enough cable to go from the trailer connection and extend about 5 ft beyond either end of the RV.Re: Generator gas tankIf the tank isn't leaking, drain it into a portable gas can. If you have an inline filter on it, leave the filter on and drain it through the filter. If not, steal a pair of the Mrs. panty hose and stretch them tight over a funnel and use it to strain out the big chunks. Let it dry good, then take an air hose and blow everything out till no more debris is seen or heard. Put it all back together and make sure to put a good inline fuel filter on it. ALWAYS use STABIL. I put it in my spare gas cans every time so no matter what, my small engines have it in the lines and tank. Another bang for your buck item is "Sea Foam," available at most auto parts stores. Cleans the fuel system out nicely. Any of the Carb or Fuel Injector cleaners or the gas line antifreeze typically contain some denatured alcohol. Denatured alcohol breaks down water and lets it run through the engine without screwing things up.
