All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Lighting fixtures Forest River 5erWell it warmed up enough for me to get back in the camper and try that light again. It was pretty warm inside and that may have helped but I got the whole glass dome to turn a bit and finally got it off. It has LEDs so all is well and I am happy now. Best of all no breakage. (-:Re: Birth of the toy haulerSomewhere around 20 years ago or so I would hunt Elk with my brother when he would come to Colorado. He had his cattle hauler set up so we had an LQ in the front of the trailer after taking the horses out. Tarps hung to keep out the weather and a goose blind heater and camp stoves. Lived like kings in that. On a group camp trip 2 years ago at a nearby lake one of the group had a 3 horse slant with LQ. The quarters in that were nicer than any of our campers / 5ers / trailers. Times have changed a bit. Of course my brothers trailer probably cost him around $6K this trailer was no doubt over $50K.Re: Lighting fixtures Forest River 5erThanks 94... I hadn't thought of that. I'll keep trying I'm just trying to see if that is an LED bulb or not. But I still want to be able to get in there. BTW an interesting discovery I made was on the celling fan bulb globes had rubber bands around them where they mount to the fixture. I wonder if that was factory to keep them from vibrating loose or ... dealer / last owner / ...? seems like a good idea in any event...Re: Lighting fixtures Forest River 5erThat was my first try, but it is ether so tight or loctite on that it won't come off with easy attempts. I may have to use pliers but I really don't want to leave marks and it is rounded enough to not let me use my pliers with plastic guards. Thanks all for the suggestions. HutchRe: Lighting fixtures Forest River 5erI haven't been able to get them off yet. Here is a pic... It "may" have an LED in it now, I just can't tell at the moment.Re: Lighting fixtures Forest River 5erIf I can't figure it out this afternoon I will take some photos and post them.Lighting fixtures Forest River 5erI just bought a Rockwood 8265WS from my brother and want to upgrade the lighting to LED bulbs. I can't seem to get the covers off easily for the lights over the dinette and couch. I suspect it is easy but don't want to force the issue and break something so seeking some advice. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks HutchRe: So, you are camping and you want to unload your truck camperI generally take the camper off when I tow the boat as I don't like having to move the house to launch / retrieve the boat at days end. I just drop it to as low as I can which is limited by the APU exhaust pipe and all is well. If I were in a campsite that had sewer then it would need to be a bit higher but I don't recall that has ever happened. I have had this unit long enough so off takes less than 15 min and on less than 30 so it is no big deal. I have in the past experimented with X boards and screw jacks with 2x6s but don't really see the need for short term stays (less than a week) and not a lot of folks using the camper. Happy trails HutchRe: TC travels, 2014 TR, Pg 904, 2015 TR pg 964I got to looking at your trip, the picture on the bottom of page 98 looks familiar. It is the picture of the coyote on the hill at Potter where I graduated from in '63. The coyote was the school mascot. Looks like you had a great trip. Hutch
